I thought the Hunter one was funny.
Something you might see from a wag at the local footy.
Can understand why the AFL wouldn't want it continuing though.

The Collingwood smartarze trying to humiliate a kid infront of 50,000 people, not so much.
AFL MRO .... MRP, whatever TF they're called, are a joke.

Best thing he’s done at the Dees.

Not sure why he was fined for being clever. That’s on the AFL to set rules on where players can and can’t be during their time on the bench.

Wow.

You have 80,000 people in the grandstands each week that players are trained to mentally block out but you can't have one opposition player on the sidelines say boo.

If you see an opponent run at you, when you have the ball near the boundary line, do you think you would know whether he is in play not.

That is clearance unfair and it has been discouraged by the fine.

We move on to the next strange, one off charge, against an MFC player and the club.

We might be the first club to be charged for littering, for a player throwing a bandage on the ground after a game.

He might as well have pulled the hawthorn players shorts off as he went past...same penalty.

More importantly, I might be in trouble here as well. I was sitting near the boundary, shouted and flapped my arms at the hawthorn player. I'm hoping to get weeks rather than a fine if identified. Will be getting JVR to represent me. He spoke well recently.

Surprised they didnt fine him more for excessive breathing.

Nah we'd be the only team fined for spitting.

It's a fair collar bUt it's hard to feel recently  that we're not being targeted.  I not paranoid. Everyone else is.

Pretty pathetic that he gets fined for demonstrating a bit of personality and humor.

AFL - talk about the fun police!

I don't think that's the point. After the A-League pitch invasion, all players of all sports will be worried about something similar happening to them. Or worse (remember what happened to Monica Seles?) That may make some players over-react when confronted by something unexpected. If players lined up at the interchange gates try to get into an opponent's head (as long as it's not racist, etc), that's OK because players can reasonably expect that to occur at that part of the ground.

There is an argument that a fine may be inappropriate or in this case, too large. However, if the AFL has warned clubs previously about this type of behaviour (and I don't know whether they have or not), a $1,500 fine is surely the next incremental level of punishment. Anything less would be too inconsequential.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
