Turns out Langers and Fritta were boys so because bylaws are applicable we had to give them back to the breeder. Not as sad as expected since Langers had begun to attack me (from behind… gutless wonder 😁). Harmesy and Melksy are girls so we’re allowed to keep them. 🥳

So we got three more babies, different breed but also chosen because of their quieter cockcrow. So far, so good. We’re 99% sure they’re girls. 🤞🏼

I give you…

Goldie, Edo and Gabi, my AFLW trio. 💕

aaaaanndd… Edo’s a boy. 😢

I can’t believe the very first morning after posting this I wake up to crowing. Sadly Edo will have to be delisted. Goldie and Gabi are being “managed” for 2-4 weeks. If they’re boys as well, all three will have to be traded. 😢

My fault, then, WCW? Sorry!

I thought once'd be enough but I feel I need to repeat periodically!

Keep the fun, joy and Dee-ness going folks! And looking forward to more Dees names (wondering if yours are 'Jeff' and, with some licence, 'Sean', @Bitter but optimistic?)

My dogs have no interest in sport - in fact they hate it!

When I watch ( particularly AFL ) they retire to The Manor's garden.

My yelling and cursing totally unnerves them.

Hi Bear from Bear....

Did you know that Clarry recently said on radio that he's looking to get a Cavoodle?

We are all obviously elite dog people 🤣

Nah, that’s just nature. We usually don’t name them until we know for sure they’re hens. It’s a little easier to say goodbye to them when they’re nameless. Went a little early on this occasion. 😢 All good though, we have depth… our breeder has a healthy reserves list. 😁

You clearly don’t know how difficult sexing chickens is. You have to look at their cloaca as soon as they hatch ie, before they take their first poo. The cloaca has a tiny pimple if it’s a boy but this disappears after the first poo. If you miss that you have to feather-sex them when they’re a couple of months old and this isn’t always accurate.

Tune in next week for how to manage fertilised eggs until your hen is clucky enough to nest. 😁

I am going to spend a lot of time trying to un-visualise those mental images

Two bear cubs!

You're probably a bit young to recall these two but our bears kinda fit the bill.  I can see them enjoying a picnic as long as there's plenty of honey snacks!

No i didn't know that Jaded.  How uncanny is that.  Our pup's haircuts can also get pretty scruffy and out of hand at times.  A good match up for Clarry's very stylish do!

I thought this thread might be a tribute to 'The Dollop', but am even happier with what it is!  Thanks!

What a graceful pup.  And a tolerant one.

P.S. you need a bigger bed!

Where do you sleep

Due to the simple fact that as soon as my wife and I share a bed, it becomes a snoring contest. I have declared her the World Champion, and I have moved to a bed where we cannot hear each other snore. It's a move which many couples have discovered, saves marriages.

Our pooch, Leila, a 4and a half year old girl, sleeps on her beds in what I call the Western Front, I.E at the western end of the passageway where our daughter resides. I call our Leila Bete Banc, our daughter is Betty Noir.

And right on cue - I must be psycho, as one of my old girlfriends used to put it - the Mayor Of Romsey Mansion adds a like!!!!!!! I am pleased, very....

This is Vernon. He is a rescue dog so we inherited his name.

My wife and I have had dogs all our married life. Out first was Lovie named after Brett Lovett.

Vernon is 17 and is partially deaf and blind. He knows the time however. He never misses dinner time and walk time.

He gets walked up and down Collins street every night. His favorite nights are Thursday and Friday when the office girls come out of the pubs. He loves the attention.

A beautiful dog.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
