Current Injury List

Taken from today's Herald Sun, this injury list seems to have quite a few players in the 'test' category:

Matthew Bate (ankle) - test

James Frawley (foot) - test

Brad Green (hamstring) - test

Ben Holland (groin) - test

Nathan Jones (ankle) - test

David Neitz (knee) - test

Daniel Ward (elbow) - test

Brock McLean (foot) - 1-2 weeks

Paul Wheatley (shoulder) - 1-2 weeks

Matthew Whelan (hamstring) - 1-2 weeks

Russell Robertson (knee) - 3-4 weeks

Clint Bartram (knee) 4-5 weeks

Isaac Weetra (wrist) - 6 weeks

Good news for Neita, Green, Jones and Bate. They probably will give Bate the week off, but if we can get the other 3 in, we're a chance.

Also great news about Frawley. Hopefully he'll be right to debut after a couple of weeks at Sandy.

McLean still 2 weeks away! :(

1-2 it says for Brock, hopefully return against the bullies...

Don't think they will play him unless he is 100%, and even then, after 6 weeks out, he'll need a run at Sandy.

I can see him winning the Liston medal after collecting 98 possessions and kicking 10.

Brock is too good to not come straight back in. A friend of Brock's sister tells me he should be right for next week.

A friend of Brock's sister tells me he should be right for next week.

Sounds like a solid source

Agree. I'll be very surprised if he does not walk straight in to the side when he is fit.

So would I. Even if he's a little down on condition I'd imagine him being very handy off a HFF.

Well quite clearly every disagree with my suggestion to bring him back via the VFL.

But are we really going to risk further injury by playing him underdone?

If they bring him straight back into the side, he probably won't play more than 60-70% of the game anyways.

I'm all for getting him back ASAP, but not if it means he is at a higher risk.

Jaded i'd agree totally if he was coming back from a soft tissue.

Instead he is coming back from a broken foot. It is either fixed or not. If fixed he plays seniors, might be down on fitness but his body should be fresh.

If they don't think he's quite right to play AFL, they'll give him an extra week off instead of playing a half for Sandy.

Give Madness a break. Seriously, why is it so hard to believe that he is mates with Brock's sister, and Brock told his sister that? And what's wrong with someone tryiong to contribute based on knowledge they may have, especially when he has at least given his source?

i agree choko at least he named his source...but a friend of brocks sister is a little suspect. because i know a lot of people often say a mate of mine, when they mean someone they met once. like perhaps brocks sisters friend told a friend of madness...

the only source that counts is when someone who knows tells you. ie brocks sister. thats not saying its not true, and he probably didnt deserve the ridicule of the others, especially how many people quote big footy on here...

Yeh I agree. But last time I looked, a blog wasn't holding itself out to be literary genius. He heard something, he posted it. Some people think stuff, they post it. Brock's sister's mate probably knows more about Brock's injury than people here do about whether Daniher can coach!

Fair enough, but that still won't solve the fitness issue.

He is coming back from a broken foot, meaning he wouldn't have been able to run or get much training done while recovering. I don't think that he'd be up to running a full game after 6 weeks off, and as I said they might only play him 60-70% of the game for the first couple of weeks back.

But that's just details. I want Brock back and nothing else matters. As long as the recovery is quick and he is able to play out the rest of the year un-injured, we'll all be very happy!

Just give Newton a game against Port and I will be happy....

Bring in whoever has proved their fitness, but give the kid a run now while he is in good form!!

We will hit september full of running and it will be a beautiful thing (as long as we are in the finals that is) :P

If your prediction comes true I'll self immolate in the middle of Junction Oval.

Is that allowed out in public veiwing these days?

Thanks, and to be more precise, it is brocks sisters boyfriend, I couldn't give a [censored] what people think, they can take it with a grain of salt but it's a closer link then anyone else has here. But my dad just told me that it was reported on the news that Brock should be right to go next week so there you go...

jones is apparantly a go for this week too, but if he doesnt come up, brock and jones coming backinto the team in the one week will improve our midfield and clearances dramatically (jones plays better with brock taking some of his attention i believe)

frawley should get 2 games at sandy, then striaght into CHB for the rest of the year

why arnt Dusty and Ward bolded?

Im with this line of thought.. if we were serious this year...well rather if we coud be taken seriously as contenders , then I suppose all hands to the wheel, but i'd rather ease a few of thee lads back into the game minimising any sudden reoccurence or stressing of their injuries.

We might see chip frawley in red and blue over the next 4 weeks. Cant wait!

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
