This afternoon I saw a story headline " Melbourne footballers in mad Monday sex act. Turns out it is a story about the Glen Waverley hawks football club. A number of times during the early part of the story they keep saying " Melbourne Footballers" as usually written from Sydney but very poor wording. The MFC should sue.

If it had said " Hawks players in Mad Monday sex act" it would have been even better.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw the headline George.

Good to see that your heart still skips a beat when reading an article about “sex acts” OD - there’s clearly life in the old fox…

Having the name "Melbourne" is generally valuable given it's the name of the city as opposed to a suburb or a non-existent location such as "West Coast". I guess sometimes with the good must come the bad. Thankfully, the good outweighs the bad many times over.

Click bate headline OD - bump! 😂

Actually I think the story is old news isn't it?  (I'm not going to repeat the details of the story I'm thinking it refers to).

I hadn't heard it RG but it was top of the news this afternoon for a few hours.

I'm surprised there's not more talk about former Collingwood "legend" Joffa Corfe pleading guilty to a child abuse charge.

I can’t speak for other cheer squads but with ours it’s mandatory to have a Working With Children Check and then to ensure it’s always up to date. We actually have two DA members whose job it is to maintain a register of such.

In light of today’s events in Court we now have to do a course in Working With Children as well as the annual WWC Check.

I’m by no means complaining though. In fact I welcome it. Clearly our Club takes this issue very seriously. As should all clubs.

edit: the WWC check doesn't apply   to every single DeeArmy member. But it does apply to members who are involved in certain areas… working at the Demon Shop, banner making and raising, working at the BBQs are three examples.

The Club have had the specific WWC course along with the WWC for some years. I believe it applies to all Volunteers with the Club.

You’re right, LSNM. The one change that’s come from today’s events is that the course that was scheduled for February is probably gonna be brought forward. This applies to the DA. Might be different for the various other Volunteer groups.

I find it sad that these things need to happen. Has our world gone nuts? It seems that the world has an increasing number of perverts that have to be prevented from damaging our young. As a parent and grand parent I find it very distressing. Keep up the good word ladies and gentlemen.

It's always been nuts Old Dee. Hard to know if numbers are increasing.  In the past many were lurking in supposed safe environments (I think you know where I mean) but every kid is on the many social media avenues now which are a haven for these vile rock spiders.

It's so hard for us to find the balance of safety vs trust for our loved ones. Educating them re the dangers is so important as well as keeping our eyes and ears open.

It's tough, but it comes with the job.

Very late for a Mad Monday headline!

Not surprised about the lack of Joffa news. Eddie has probably lent him some of his teflon.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
