You never know these days. Joe could be in a relationship with Neale and they have gone down the “third party reproduction” path

Do you really think that is funny?

Ok, so we led at 3/4 time against Swans an Colonwood in 3 games and lost ALL 3 OF THEM.

We also lost to Geelong

Whats your point mate? We are not playing like a challenger, and unlike last year we have shown NOTHING that would intimidate the other contenders.

Tell me what I missed, because I don't think its much.

You couldn't work out my point from my post?

We were neither embarrassed nor towelled in those games, which was what you'd said and what I was responding to.

You've gone again with a strong word here - you think we have shown "NOTHING that would intimidate the other contenders", which is another silly statement I disagree with.

We finished 2nd despite having a significantly harder fixture than Geelong, Sydney or Collingwood (or indeed any finalist other than the Dogs). In our 23 games, we've had a 16+ point lead in 21 of them. Last week we played a really hot game against a really good side, led them for most of the first three quarters, but let it slip late.

The fact we've lost all five games to Sydney, Geelong and Collingwood is evidence to suggest we're not as likely to win the flag as we'd all want. But only the Geelong loss was a truly poor game, and even in that one the margin was down to 5 points in the fourth quarter, so we weren't even out of that one in the fourth.

If you take all of that and conclude "we are not playing like a challenger", so be it but I can't agree.

Just heard on the radio that Daniher will be out tonight for birth of his baby....Good for us!

This confirmed. Replaced by Tom Fullarton.

Melksham and Neal-Bullen stay in. They’d better perform tonight. Last week, they were simply horrid.  Silver lining is surely they couldn’t play any worse !!

I presume ANB will play on Rich tonight. If that's the case, I hope Demonland will judge ANB less on his own statistics and more on how successfully he quells Rich.

PS: It's also why we need to kick straight tonight. Inaccurate kicking for goal has become significantly more problematic for all teams given the kick back in is now often taken nearly 30m out from goal. When Rich kicks in, he can turn defence into a meaningful attack very quickly.

You never know we might see us kick into the RH side to night. Nah miracles seldom happen.

My, probably minority and certainly irrelevant, reaction to Daniher heading home for the birth is disbelief. That reaction must be shared by at least some of his team. Good.

The conception is another matter. Should be there on that occasion.

Hope you meant him and not you.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

The Demons are back at the MCG for the second week in a row. They face the Suns off a 15 day break without their prized recruit and former Demon champion Christian Petracca. This will be a massive test for the Demons who will be facing a genuine Premiership contender. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
