The first seven words of Richard III were certainly appropriate when Oliver started his career.

I thought "Richard the Third" was rhyming slang and far more applicable to Dayne Zorko than to Clarry.

Now do yourself a favour and watch the Ian McKellen 1995 version of Richard III set in fascist England in the 1930s. Absolutely sensational. Or, if you have the time, watch The Hollow Crown series from start to finish. It's unbelievably compelling.

I prefer the Supergrass version of Richard III

Sir Ian, Sir Ian, Sir Ian. (Extras quote)

John Lydon based the persona of Johnny Rotten on Shakespeare's Richard 111 - more than a passing resemblance bw youngish Rotten and Clarry for mine........

Winner of every MFC award, AA award and AFLaward multiple times along with an AFL Premiership the only awards he has yet to win is the Brownlow and Norm Smith which he may be able to win in the coming years

If Clarrie was one of the 'pretty boys' who gain so much media attention, he most probably would have already won a  Brownlow. Everything (or very close to it) that Clarrie attempts comes off with flying colours and that is what sets him above so many of the Brownlow winners in the past coupla years. Then, his consistency at playing at this level so frequently against any opponents can be factored into our praise for his efforts, just like it had with Tulip.

It is a ripper.  I have always supposed that they had the costumes and props from the Mosely series.

Best line ever.

Clarry is Tybalt, McDuff, Othello and King Lear all rolled into one.

Layzie aside from McDuff there’s some troubled characterisations you’ve drawn on;

Tybalt may be ‘king of the cats, sleek yet violent’. (Danger got that role?) Orthello consumed by jealously kills his lover and himself. (All’s well Clarry is back...). King Lear spirals into destitution and insanity.(Peter Jackson stepped in).

Alternatively when associating Olivier with Shakespeare, we prefer these guys;

Henry V rallies the troops, Puck has wit and magical abilities and Prospero’s a wizard who gets sweet poetic revenge at the end of the season finale.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

    I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • GAMEDAY: Gold Coast

    It's Game Day and the Demons are back at the MCG and have a massive challenge ahead of them as they take on Premiership contender the Gold Coast Suns. What do you want to see from the Dees today?

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

    Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
