Why no Steven May? Is it because of hammy injuries?

If that is so, there are plenty in that team with injury concerns

May’s never played a full 22 game season (got pretty close last year). He isn’t a dominant intercept marker and also drops the occasional mark going back with the flight. Plus our conservative play from the backline doesn’t maximise his run and kicking which is one his advantages over most key defenders.

I’m ok with him being viewed as a rung belong the very best key defenders for this season, with the aim to have him cherry ripe for September.

I hate everything to do with ‘cancel culture’ but fully support David King being cancelled after seeing this.

Rather than cancellation for King, he needs to wake up to himself - and abdicate!

No Max

No Mr. Ed

No S. May

No Fritsch

Now that is fair enough, but the players he has chosen, instead of those players are nowhere near as good as those 4

I'm genuinely surprised any players from other teams got in at all...

He picked the Dogs to win the GF because Goody would be coaching from the bench.

We should all acknowledge that the man's a genius.

You do realise it's just media fodder to create debate.

Why so serious?

It's his opinion. I don't know why people get so worked up over it. It's also click bait.

King's opinion on Gawn will be found to be either right or wrong. Along with the Champion Data rankings, there's a bit of a surprising tendency to still under-rate Max as a ruck. Beats me why.

Gawn is basically about to hit the twilight of his career and with Jackson being as good as he is, it’s possible he will spend less time rucking and more time forward. They would want to conserve him for finals.
Still madness not to include him tho. He’s the best ruck in the competition and by a fair margin too.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
