He's the version of the story I wanted to read about Jurrah!

I must admit I wondered how he'd look playing for us, but then I also used to think we could bring Boyd back as well.

Good luck to the young man.  I hope the bombers didn't pressure him.

He has no chance of AFL success unless he is 100% in and mentally right

A one year deal would suggest that neither party is overly confident of this comeback being a success. His conditioning was an issue before his retirement, and it is hard to think it has improved since. He will be coming from a long way back. Good luck to him though - it would be a great story.

Essendon has lost a lot of players over the last few years - Daniher, McDonald-Tipungwuti, Fantasia, McKenna, Saad. None of them were there during the supplements scandal. That one of them now wants to come back (and McKenna might be another) confirms in my mind that the Bombers had significant cultural problems in the last few years which may now be in the past. The appointment of Brad Scott, plus other changes, suggests that Essendon just might be getting its act together. I hope so, not because I want Essendon to perform well on-field, but because every footballer deserves the chance to have a happy workplace wherever they are.

Thread title needs to be changed from retires to retries

  • Whispering_Jack changed the title to Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti

From TV clips last night he looks a hell of a long way off AFL fitness - will need a huge preseason (and maybe some "supplements")?

I didn't want to start a new thread, so will post here as it seems somewhat relevant given his former club.

Can anyone explain how Conor McKenna can be signed by Brisbane instead of being available to all clubs through the draft?

He retired two years ago so came back as an Unrestricted FA so could chose his club.

As an aside, Brisbane will be greatly improved with McKenna, Dunkley, Gunston, Ashcroft and Fletcher.
