Tomlinson Hungry for 2022 Return

"the fittest I've ever been" ....... wow!  Competition for spots in the best defense in the AFL will be intense, and that bodes damn well for our quest to go back to back!

Speaks well and I think his clear hunger to be a bigger part of what the team achieved last year will inspire and drive the team to greater heights. Is there greater though? Maybe just to "do it again" by the Beach Boys

I really like this bloke. So personable and easy to relate to. We are really spoilt for choice. We can manage an injury in just about every line atm but let’s hope for another healthy season.

May is really the only player that has soft tissue vulnerabilities in backline but you could argue that his hammy in the finals was more a result of the push than anything else.

Top shelf depth for this year. Probably misses round 1 if we’re at full strength.

We’re in a great position to have May, Lever, Petty and Tomlinson fighting for 3 tall defender spots.

Tomlinson could literally play anywhere if we are seeing players miss with Covid.

Pretty handy player to have in these times.

Looks like he is in beast mode, seems like a truly humble man as well.

He is certainly ready to go

These boys are Hungry, as long as our fitness standards stay at peak levels. That is what got us Number 13.

I thought the comment around Milky was a great example of feeding off and helping drive each other. The incumbents will know what is in waiting and I think today's performance by Khawaja just shows the value of having a "next man up" opportunity.

Very happy for Adam to be back .

But who comes out for him. He was replaced by Petty who has been great so it's hard to see him sidelined.  Rivers isn't going anywhere and is not really like for like.

I also wonder how Hunt is going to get back in.

Nice issues to have but hard for such loyal players.

…..and Smith and Turner…..etc.

trying to get into a Premiership side isn’t easy, probably injury the only way. Petty and Bowie have shown what is required if the opportunity presents itself.

Thanks Goto. I totally forgot about Smith who I think is a very underated player.

For a club that used to have a backline that really struggled we have not only the best in the comp but one with enough to field another very strong one in the twos.

With Bbb finding a return to his old form and also becoming good at contested marking and Fritta emerging as a key player. our forward line has caught up. So can't wait for this season to get going. As dominating as our cricketers have been, it's just not doing it for me anymore. I've tasted a flag and I need more. I know it's the Ashes and a patriotic duty....I'm sorry but my heart beats true.....

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
