Has a team ever won the flag having not made the finals the last 2 years?

Hi All, a big thank you to the members who helped me get into the grand final. It was a great experience. Here’s a link to a few photos from the week and yesterday https://photos.app.goo.gl/dL5kAG4LNFKRqqfY6

My birthday was Friday and what a birthday it was.

Today I have been playing the theme song over the audio at our church

Thanks for sharing Johnno.
Looks like u had an awesome time and given the result I’m not surprised. Happy birthday for last Friday. Saturday will be the best present u will ever get.

I still can’t believe we are PREMIERS. 🏆🥇

Not trying to put a damper on things but there's been a lot of talk of dynasties which i think is premature and presumptuous. Not saying we can’t win more than one, far from it, but there are plenty of reasons why we might not

  • We won’t have the same luck with injuries
  • Other teams will be stronger. The doggies aren’t far off, Richmond have one more crack left in the tank, even GWS if they can get their players on the park will be a threat
  • We will be the hunted next year
  • And most importantly, will these players be prepared to put in the hard yards again of will they be satisfied with just the one pennant. Will the hunger and desire still be there when they return for preseason?

There is one big motivator that can really spur this group on next year and that is winning one in front of the faithful. It’s been great for our Perth brethren, I couldn’t be happier for them, but I’ve felt a little removed, distant from this win. I would love to experience a grand final win and belt out A Grand Old Flag at the ‘G

I reckon we are massive chance to have success in the next 5 years. Our list is so young and talented. We have belief and strong culture. Hunger will not drop off yet as they have just had a taste.  All our best players are signed up for years to come.

Who is our main challengers?  The Cats are on the decline. Tigers and Port maybe have one more chance to have a crack.

Brisbane, Dogs, WC, Sydney are the main challengers but we will be raging favs going into next season.

Too early to get carried away but why not!!?

All it took to win a flag was to put a woman in charge. Typical.

this was bloody brilliant!   3 goals in 38 seconds.

For those with FoxFooty, grab a six pack and relax tonight:

LOVE the name change @Jaded No More!!! ❤️💙

Surely another long term benefit of all this is playing at that stadium is NEVER going to hold any fear for us from here.

I don’t ever want this thread to end.

Curse done superstitions gone (except in the 3rd I remembered I didnt have socks on in the geelong win so they came off and have now been binned, made all the difference apart from our mids, jacko and Fritta).

I am just so thrilled for all our supporters especially those on demonland.

Wow just wow.

I [censored] you not...

In the 1st Qrt I was sitting off the front of the couch, nervously leaning forward

In the 2nd Qrt I sat back in the couch leaned back and enjoyed a beer in a bit more comfort, then thinhs started to get out of hand

In the 3rd Qrt I remained sitting back, until the 1st goal, then I noticed what I'd done, so resumed the forward leaning squat at the front of the couch. Brayshaw made a couple of crucial contests, we regained composure, and despite Bont's goal we looked steadier, and I felt more confident. The rest is history

.... you're welcome everyone ❤💙

Such a good point. Me too.

My head nearly exploded.

In years to come I will remember round 23 and tge grand final as a package almost.

It all felt it was destined.

Totally agree, Gawn’s kick was incredibly significant in multiple ways.

We’ll keep it going even if we run out of things to say WCW, the drive home from work on the Western Ring this arvo was stress free. That’s all I got for now.EE3030CD-6E65-4011-AA0D-152D10E0327C.thumb.jpeg.4f771d878584fc39d56c70d69b6ffea0.jpeg

Well, Jesus. This makes it tough. R57 has first dibs on the gold, but can we give you the consolation prize of the Gary Ayres award for second best superstition?

I did wonder last night whether the collision with the goal post rattled Weightman. Seemed to hit his head on the post and then on the ground. Coming back from a concussion that can't have been good. Not taking anything away from Rivers or Bowey, thought they were both super

To me Weightmen was laughing and jumping around pre game , was way to over confident I thought , my gut told me the rookie was going to cop a hiding, especially in retrospect when u hear the story of May telling track not to smile with 7 minutes left in the game

GWS, Essendon and Carlton will improve next year. GWS are the ones though.

According to my watch I clocked up 6000 steps during the game. And about 100 liters of alcohol after.

A quick shout out to Ross Lyon  - [censored] goose.  No wonder he didn't get the Carlton job when he had no idea about who the best team actually was.  Couldn’t say a good word about the demons and couldn’t get off the bullies.  When someone says ‘touch up in the west’ he doesn't think of the 2021 GF, just a hush payment he had to make because he is a complete tool.

Random comments.

Spot on re Lyon. Dreadful individual.

Macguire also tipped against Melbourne. Reason ... he hates Melbourne. Suck on a big bag Triplechins!!!

I'm not  a fan of Garry Lyon either, but I thought he conducted himself really well on GF day  ...  in presenting the Cup, and his post match interviews. Well done sir.

Some people said that seeing your team win a flag can be an anti climax. Not the case with me.

I hate that Bulldogs player Hunter. He should hone his driving skills rather than developing expertise in staging for free kicks.

How long should I leave Demons stuff on my front window-  scarves/streamers/posters ? Is a month too long?

Agree.  well the bombers might just stagnate, they overachieved last year.  Freo should improve too if they can stay fairly injury free

Could also see the Saints re bounding hard

although only GWS are in the frame for the flag of these 5 teams imo

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
