Drop him for one match. He's forgotten what caused him to be rookied. The whole team is so secure they've lost their desperation.

Not sure dropping him is the answer. But certaintly explain to him that no-one's spot in the team is absolute. His last two weeks have been horrible.

Bringing Pickett back will help him!

Forget about Pickett being back for a couple of weeks he couldn't even run out a half at Sandy. I blame Danners for Davey, he is tried to make him something he is not and that's a midfielder. Davey is a roving forward pocket someone needs to tell the coach and Davey to get to the forward contest and stop chasing kicks up the ground.

Agreed. Upset Alwin is doing well. We really need him

Nope. Dropping him is a proactive thing. He's worse than bad at the moment. He's even getting outrun by older midfielders. When Davey isn't absolutely at his top-pace he's a liability. He and Trav are supposed to be stars of the competition, and you'd be hard pressed to find 2 players who've played worse in the opening 2 rounds.

They won't be dropped because A - Inuries, B - So many weak players, and C - Not enough other options to come back in.

If the situation weren't so dire, he could really use a couple of weeks at Sandy to find some touch. It's COMPLETELY deserted him at the moment.

U forgot D - Danners isnt a hard enough coach. too soft

This always dumbfounds me. Are you suggestug Davey doesn't try when Pickect is not playing, or he only tries to play well when Pickett is out there?

We will get CREAMED by the cats next week, we may as well send the message out to passengers by dropping them next week.

Davey needs a week in the 2s.

Make no mistake about it, Byron was the spark that turned our season around last year. Without his physical prescence I see the same soft touch in the engine room that has crippled us many a season. Mclean knows what's required. Too bad, he's out for 6 weeks. Season will be dead and buried by then.

Has not looked like getting a kick the last two weeks.......

when a crumber was needed he was nowhere to be seen...

disappointing!

I am with you Rampaging Demons.......

I have always believed Davey's best position was as a forward crumber, but that seems to have been lost completely.

Whether that is him or coaching I am not completely sure. But the fact is, we didn't see much crumbing going on at all today.

The ball was being spilled from contests, there was no-one there to mop it up, and it was then being raced out of our forward 50 by the Hawks.

This was unfortunately without the Dees even threatening the goals.

Of course may not be entirely Davey's fault or responsibility, but it would have been nice to see him there at some point today.....

Maybe next week?

Im saying that Pickett will lift Davey helping him play better

We can live in hope. What else can we do?

people have derided yze in the past for bad attitude and poor body language. and if yze deserved a page 3 article at the end of last season about it, then currently aaron davey deserves a front page spread. never before have i seen a player mope around so much.

on the byron thing, i dont think byron just lifts him, but the entire team, remember byron last year was unfit as all hell and was next to useless in the first 3 rounds and we subsequently lost. when he got his touch and fitness we were about 14-1 from memory, and when he got injured again he struggled. if he is ready next week then he sould be played, because maybe he can be the one to put a rocket up davey's ass

There was that one awful moment when Franklina and another smaller player chased Davey down. What a demoralising moment for us!! One thing about Davey is that he's small, and has weaknesses. His pace and tackling is SUCH a strength that he earns his spot, but if he's not absolutely smashing guys into the turf and his pressure falls back to normal levels he becomes a liability.

I was ready to start screaming at him until I saw him put on a sensational chase to drop Franklin near the boundary line later in the game. It looked to me, up until that point, that he'd lost a yard as a consequence of his ankle.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
