Never seen a Valvoline tat WCW but each to their own. What’s the prize?

Ok, while we’re waiting for Timothy Redden A’Blew to throw another Tuesday Time-Waster at us, I offer this quickie…

I have a tattoo that comprises a black outline with a small section of solid colours, those being red and blue. It’s not a Dees tattoo but the red and blue are the exact same shades as ours. Not our home strip navy blue, but one of our away/clash strips blue (royal blue).

It is an iconic image. Instantly recognised the world over. It is never reproduced with any colours other than the red and the blue. Unless there’s some fool out there who dares to mess with a classic.
Can you guess what I have tattooed on my person?

You’ll find out if/when you guess correctly. 😉

A clue: while the red and blue part jumps out at you, so to speak, they are only about 10% of the image space. The red and blue are together and are a solid (filled-in) element.

Ah, so it's not Domino's! (My shock-face reaction was to a tattoo of same, not the product. To pizza, of any persuasion, I too am partial. Indeed, fully!) Nothing from me just yet, then, WCW; you have the floor.

Ok, big clue comin’ atchya…

It’s got to do with music.

Solved 😍 (and what an incredible tatt, that would be).

Another clue (coz this was meant to be a quickie):

it’s got to do with a British musician who passed away, breaking my heart in the process, in 2016 aka annus horribilis.
Surely that gives it away (?)

Ziggy's flash?

That’s it!

Well done FND! Your prize?

My love and best wishes. How’s that for a prize? You’re welcome!

And it’s non-transferable too, btw. 😁

To keep the quiz theme going, go back to the magnificent cover of Sgt Peppers. There are four people in that artwork who are still alive. Who are they? I'll give you two of them...Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr (both there twice). So, who are the other two?

Um, I think I pipped him? But, by our mutual 'Likes', I think we're happy to share?!

Feeling anxious about this week's Prelim Final?  Looking for something to take your mind off the game?  Have time on your hands and are willing to waste some of it?  You've come to the right place!

As usual, you need to tell me what connects the players in this team.

Unusually, there is a prize this week, to be revealed at the completion of the quiz.

All good, it’s on my arm. 😊

Whoever it is, that lad’s insane!

Next, then - these twenty-three MFC men select themselves. Where's the 'tether'? (PM me)

John Lord, Hassa Mann, Ken Emselle, Bob Gormly, Ted Lees, John Toll, Darryl Schwarz, Peter Weekes, Greg Wells, Ray Carr, Stephen Kerley, Kim Smith, John Tossol, Steven Stretch, Mark Bradly, Mark Jamar, Nick Smith, Kyle Cheney, Jack Watts, Max Gawn, Mitch Clisby, Ben Kennedy, Tim Smith.

The squad of 23 is sufficient for a modern team but I doubt they'd compete; several have single-figure games tallies, and they wouldn't have all positions covered, I'd say. But it is a unique squad, consisting of players who debuted with the Dees since my childhood second favourite player, John Lord RIP, himself debuted. For nothing other than convenience, I've listed them in debut date order.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
