The ABC commentary...wow.

I had no idea their commentary box had devolved so much.

Was waiting to hear the gurgle of a bong while Max lined up for the kick.

🤣

I LOVE this thread!!! And there’s so much to love in that last couple of minutes. But for me, this stands out…

Never liked him anyways. Especially when he went to Essendon.

What a great compilation. Thank you

Boy oh boy how pi553d off would we be had May Lever Petty Max Jacko Brown Tom all stood around and left Hawkins to mark uncontested were the rôles reversed?

You can see Stanley go to pick Max up but someone calls him back to the goal line. Stanley turns with his arms out to his team mate as if to say why TF are you calling me back?

Watched it again tonight.  Amazing last quarter.
Gawn outsmarted the Cats to take the mark and goal. He played a huge last quarter. Deserved the All Australian and captaincy.

Maxy deserves any awards and credits that come his way. Nothing too valuable for his reward for team and Club.

Read on the ABC. (?) that Maxy’s goal was the first by a Melbourne player to win a match after the siren,

can that be correct ?

Correct weight.

How can the ABC or anyone else claim this as a fact for a competition going back to 1896? I personally don't believe it. It has happened reasonably often in recent seasons in games involving other clubs, so the odds are strongly in favour of it having happened before in a Dees game, even if it was a very long time ago.

Great viewing on a damp Saturday morning

Would be great if this can be played on repeat in the stadium for an hour before ball-up next Friday night

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
