Oh dear, what have I started here?

I think you all need to behave like pole vaulters and just get over it.

easy to say when the games are headed for the high jump even though they are now just a hop step and jump away

Who wants to play Essendon at the Cattery?

If the 25 K radius has gone by 26 June I’m more than happy to travel down to Geelong to watch us play Essendon, just to see a game live.

Agreed and good practice for our game against Geelong in round 22. It’s not our home game so I don’t care haha

Melbourne supporters faced with the prospect of a game against Essendon in Geelong:

Two games shifted out of Victoria this weekL

  1. North v Brisbane moved from Marvel to Hobart
  2. Hawthorn v Essendon moved from the MCG to Launceston

In news that @Bring-Back-Powell will no doubt lap up, Geelong has chosen to leave its match at GMHBA, in front of no crowd.

Good on Geelong for standing their ground and utilising their home ground advantage. A footballing over finance decision.

Doesn’t paint a rosy picture for many restrictions to ease on Thursday, if they’re already calling the interstate transfers.

Yep. Another massive overreaction by our state. Zero transmissions at the footy even when two positive cases were at games. Low positive case numbers. Clearly we don’t trust our contract tracers. Beyond a joke to already say no crowds a week out. Pathetic.

It's easier to do when the game in question isn't the financial windfall of the NT sponsored game or Queen's Birthday, and it's the first home game Geelong's had in this period.

As to the latter, they have to make the call now no matter what happens on Thursday, and there's no way the government will have decided now what they're going to do, they make all their calls the day before.

Fair point re: Geelong’s first home game in a few weeks.

I would hope that when we play GWS, we don’t transfer it to NSW, regardless of the finances.

Agreed. It won’t make us much money either way. We have very few games left at the G before finals. We need all the time there we can get. I rather play at the G in front of nobody than play at that SCG dump in front of 8000 people.
The only consideration would be to take it to the NT if we desperately need the cash.

It's hard to see why we'd do that: the main financial damage to our season has already been done. Unless we chose to play that game at Giants Stadium or Manuka, we won't pull a crowd to that game and hence it won't help us. Very different to playing Collingwood, a big club with a big fanbase in NSW.

Zero new cases today.

Hopefully an announcement tomorrow of restrictions further easing as of Friday, increasing the chances of a crowd at the G for our (away) game vs Essendon the following weekend.

I would rather have it in NSW than in an empty MCG. At least fans in Sydney get to go to a game. Good teams win wherever the game is played.

In the paper (Sun) today it said the Cats stand to lose up to $900k if the game on Friday is played in front of no crowd.

If there's only 25% crowd allowed will MFC members even get in? Probably only those with MCC/AFL Memberships

7000 regional members allowed to the game on Friday. Lucky Geelong. Once again KOTD.
