I'm with you Mono. No change. Give Jacko an extra week to fully recover from his finger injury and he will be cherry right for Dogs, Lions and Pies then gets another rest. Let the Weid and BB have another game together and Chandler to stay also and hopefully show us what's he got against Crows. Then we have massive decisions for Dogs game.

Yep. I don't doubt Burgo, but agree we're in a good position and no need to rush people back especially when there's a little buffer in the ladder and plenty of games to go.

Weideman looked more likely to take a grab than Brown last week and also offers more when it hits the deck. Whilst it shouldn't dictate selection - I'm concerned that dropping Weideman after one game plays into the hands of other clubs that will be trying to convince him to switch clubs at year-end.

You must have watched a different game to me RG.  I thought both were pretty ordinary in this regard with BB just a smidgen ahead.  Barely though.

But I want to watch LJ this week!

I must say I was tempted to play 3 talls. That is all of BB, Jacko and sw. But I got to thinking we want marks inside 50 and in Tmac and Fritz we do fine with Jackson and BB essentially (for now) supplements.

The other reason apart from offence we win, is that our forwards are our first line of defence trapping the ball where we can score.

For those reasons - not needing additional marking power and needing to sustain our defensive forward energies we can’t have 3 talls.

I prefer BB to SW - his hands are better- both are light on for defensive acts.

therefore

jacko for weid

Chandler to stay given a chance to show his Defensive forward metal

Jackson in for Ben Brown

I think Jackson, Weed and T Mac could be an excellent mix up forward.  we cannot play all 4 imo

I wonder how they'd manage to do that.

Weid is Astro boy like!

Given he regularly played on the wing when he dominated in 2018 and spent the entire pre season training for that role i'd probably look at knowing what i'm talking about before getting too sarcastic ?

Yea Tmac has been awesome up forward. Why wouldnt he be awesome on the wing and allowing Gus to do what he does better. And so it allows for bb and sw to play. Just because its different doesnt mean its a bad idea. Surely if allows both sw and bb a rlle it has some merit.

Why upset the wing  (Angus) now just to move our best big forward out of the forward line

How illogical to switch deck chairs when it's not necessary !

I dont think of Tmac as our best forward. I see him as a great utility player. How do we know bbb or sw wont be as good?

And having him on the wing can allow all three quality players to be present.

Agreed its been working the way it is but it may just work better.

The wing (Angus wing ) is not broke so don't try and fix it.

Choofta is more mobile than Brenny and Jacko is a best 22 player.

It’s difficult but I feel Sam offers more than Ben and we need to give him a couple of games to get a better look.

Brenny Brown has had three games not and has been ok with doing anything special.

With TMac  in such good form he sort of plays that big forward role and there fire brings a better balance.

bloody hard call though, especially when you entice a guy over from another club and pay him , most likely more than TMac and Choof put together

Dogga in for Brenny Brown or Chandler

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
