Just wondering if anyone has any clue how ticket sales are likely to be done next week given the Reduced capacity and an away game ?

an email went out today from either hq or ticketek or both...

afl member info:

On-sale 10am AEDT,
Tuesday, March 23

The following AFL members will have access from 10am AEDT:

  • AFL Gold Members with Competing Club of Support
  • AFL Silver Members with Competing Club of Support

On-sale 11am AEDT,
Tuesday, March 23

The following AFL members will have access from 11am AEDT:

  • AFL Gold Members with Non-competing Club of Support
  • AFL Silver Members with Non-competing Club of Support
  • All AFL Bronze Members

That's only AFL Members. I'd say it's going to be difficult to get tickets if the reduced capacity is maintained - I think Hawks had about 3000 tickets for their "away" game members book.

Was so much better when we paid $10 at turnstile.

I don’t even know what they call Colonial this year. It’s not on website and Mars Stadium is listed.

Marvel Stadium

As a Docklands game I think it's Ticketmaster and not Ticketek also

It is ticketmaster. We will have to wait and see what the dictators do with crowd capacties. If they increase it to 75 % then you would stand a goood chance of getting a ticket if you get on early enough.  At this stage I will be going to the girls game at Casey then going home to abuse the T.V. watching the mens. My membership is only home games.

If they increase to 75% you’d have to be pretty stiff to miss out on a 40,000 capacity.

We’ve only once got 40,000 to a Saints v Dees game at Marvel and that was when we started the season 3-0 and were flying at the time.

2005?

Correct.

We were flying in the early part of 2005, but did lose to St Kilda that arvo after a last quarter fade out.

was that the game that guerra buried a then-flying cam bruce into the carpark, destroying his shoulder in the process?

he was never quite the same after that

Yep. Bruce was phenomenal to start that season until that game.

Funny that it's been approx 16 years since we've been 3-0

Yeah but not haha funny

My tickets say enter at Gate 5B. The Marvel Stadium Map only shows a Gate 5. Where is Gate 5B at Marvel stadium? Am I being too pedantic?

Agreed, Radar. I longingly miss the days of being able to casually rock up to the MCG, confidently assured of being able to buy a ticket for $10 from one of the bored staff in the many available ticket-selling-boxes. Upon receipt of my ticket, the walk through the turnstile was a non-event (absent of today's security guards brandishing electronic metal-detector wands). The proceeding walk from there up the stairs (or not) to choose a spot to sit or stand to watch the game was (and still is) a moment to savour. To this day, at this moment, I always believe that Melbourne can win. Each week that is either a curse or affirms my faith in the MFC. I am confident that I am not solitary in holding this notion. But I digress...When I finally find a seat and revel in the grand greenery of the hallowed turf, I swim in the hubbub of the babbling crowd and I sigh with relief. I've made it. I get a beer, sit down in my seat and wait to enjoy watching my beloved Dees go into battle. This week, Radar, I'll be watching from the wing at Docklands.Colonial.Marvel. I miss the old days of just rocking up and going to the footy. An historical pastime now necessitating the effort of pre-booking tickets at $65 each (even as a MFC member) to see the Dees play this Saturday with a non MFC friend at Marvel Stadium. Traditionally we meet to attend this game and usually it is the only time we meet each year. I enjoy this day, but tend to enjoy the matches we share at the MCG more than those at Docklands.

expecting 25,000 for this week IMO

I think you might be on the money.

Last night’s crowd of just 51,000 emphasises that not all folks are ready to attend the footy yet.

Plus most MFC fans don’t attend Marvel.

That got me all nostalgic AC/DeeC, and reminded me of days gone by when walking up from Richmond station, I could hear the roar of the crowd watching the reserves game and I would walk quicker and quicker thinking I was missing something.

Gate 5 has been split down the middle as part of the covid segregation inside. Just go to gate 5 as normal and you'll see tones of signage indicating which side is A and B. I was able to see it from the train a couple weeks back

Thanks A.W, got in no probs!

Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.
