What does Logan farkin McDonald have to do with anything?

The fact that people call Jackson a star after doing nothing. Then what is Logan Mcdonald... a superstar?

This is a sad and repeated story that has existed for decades with our fans. Hyping up our own youngsters only for them not to turn into anything. Bate, Tapscott, Strauss, Watts, Toumpas, Gysberts, etc. there's no doubt that people hyped up all of these players when they started out their careers.

Apparently he was injured some time in the 2nd Qtr on the weekend and was almost subbed of for Chandler (Mentioned on the Gus and gawn podcast), look to see if he comes up this week or is rested

Yeh the physio did some work on him and he went down to the rooms with about 10 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter.

Started on the field for the 3rd quarter so guess he either had a shot or was right to go.

Jeez, you are a sad sack. Nothing wrong with pumping up someone's tyres or being a dreamer about future possibilities. Much better than being pessimistic and negative.

I have to be just to keep everyone grounded because a lot of supporters can't see the forest for the trees and are blinded by their bias. I for one,  think Jackson can become a good player in the future. But only as a ruckman. He isn't a forward and has never shown any forward craft.

While I don’t quite share @Dr.D views on things I will totally agree that fans (and the sports media for that matter) are way too quick to put labels such as “star” or even “future star” on young players. Now the best it shouldn’t affect them but for some it takes time, Jack Watts constantly got talked up but the fact of it is that his output over his journey wouldn’t have given him much more than the label of “serviceable” had it not been for his high draft selection.

I’m absolutely loving what LJ (and Kozzie for that matter) are showing in bursts, but sometimes we need to temper ourselves and remind ourselves that they are year two players so their form will fluctuate. I’m hopeful they’ll develop into something special but for now I just want them to play a useful role in the team.

Did you see the dynamic change when LJ was put into the ruck?  Hes polar opposite to Max and we bamboozled the Saints.

Love the kid but I don't think it was the move of him in the ruck that was the change - he competed hard but they still won their fair share of clearances.  I think it was more that with Gawn forward, the St Kilda defenders were nervous and allowed our smaller players to get into it it - Kozzie, Spargo, Sparrow and ANB.

Until such time that Brown returns, the need for Gawn forward (and thus LJ in the ruck is paramount). When forward (and back) Gawn has a huge presence. Get it in quick when he’s there and he will at least force the ball to ground and bring our smalls into the game.

That’s our most dangerous setup to kick winning scores until Big Ben can take over. LJ is nowhere near ready imo, but the next month playing in the seniors will do wonders for his development.

I think you are both right - even if LJ didn't do anything especially magic himself, the complete change in the style of ruckman was effective at disorganising the St Kilda stoppages.  Meanwhile Gawn going forward definitely disrupted the St Kilda defence.

It's a double-bamboozlement!

Jackson is NEARLY here.

Clearly his leap at ruck work, 2nd efforts and midfielder agility are huge assets.  His marking is generally good.

Needs to develop his kicking and get physically stronger.  Howard was able to outmark him on numerous occasions just with body position.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
