Updated for Petty and Fritsch contracts.

Petty will be an RFA and Fritsch will be an FA at the end of their respective contracts.

We have an incredibly stable list with probably only 3 'unforced' delistings:  Hore, Declase, Lockhart.  Very different form recent years of 10-12 each year.

A list that has just one a premiership and will stay together for the next 5+ years.

Not sure how I ended up with two posts.

I tried to edit the first and it disappeared 🤔.

So will leave both.  The table is the same, text slightly different.

I usually update games annually after the draft, when I create the new list for the following year.

So look for the 2022 thread late next week.

i hope you decide to add a gold "(1)" after relevant players' names to indicate how many premierships they've won.

@La Dee-vina ComediaI tried putting a '1' but it got a little lost amongst all the other data.  So have put in a image.png.6fb4f6a0bd541d9bbfd5439f4446a84f.png instead.  Will add more Premiership Cups as they come 🙃🙂🙃.

Here is a preview of the 2022 chart with games played.  If anyone sees any errors please let me know.

In updating the no of games I noticed that:

  • Viney played his 150th game in the GF.  I knew it at the time but the didn't appreciate the significance.  Doubt many players in AFL history have achieved such a significant milestone in a winning GF.
  • Jordon is accredited with 25 games.  He took the field either as a player or a sub in 21 of those games.  To me that makes him a worthy recipient of a GF medal as he played a key role in helping us get there.  Moreso than any other player.

I will update the draftees and list size after the draft.

many thanks for this brilliant resource.

I think you may alter Tom Sparrow's age on completion of his contract.  He turns 22 in May next year.

Is Pickett's surname actually Kropinyeri-Pickett as described in Luci's List? And if so, would that mean he has the longest surname of all players who have won a Premiership in VFL/AFL history?

If that is so has the MFC created another first in a premiership team where 2 players have hypenated surnames.

I believe so. The full hyphenated name was read out on draft night.

iirc Kropinyeri is his birth Surname.  Not sure when or why Pickett was added.

Thanks.

So we currently have picks 17, 37, 49, 57 and 94.

I would predict that we will use 17, 37 at the draft with 57 being more than enough to match for Taj. That leaves one list spot for a SSP addition.

We should be able to leverage something out of pick 49, which should come into the low 40's by the time all the pies and Bulldogs picks get absorbed in their f/s selections.

That will be pretty valuable to a few clubs, including those that need more points for NGAs and f/s or maybe just want another selection all together. StKilda, GWS as well as Pies and Dogs are just a few clubs that might be interested in it.

I'm not sure it will be enough to seriously upgrade pick 17 but we could perhaps get an upgrade to 37 or perhaps a future pick or two for next year.

in that case we should try and bundle up 37 and 40 to get a single better pick

yes kropinyeri is his father's surname.   the mfc, afl and wikipedia have his surname as just pickett

are we expecting Chandler to be upgraded given 2 year contract?  if so I suspect we pick up 3 at draft tomorrow including Taj, upgrade Chandler and JJ and leave 1 rookie spot open for AMW.

Did another post suggest AMW would be Cat B? which leave a further Rookie spot open

Chandler is not on the club's list of rookies to be upgraded submitted to the AFL.

If AMW isn't bid on by another team in the main draft we can automatically take him as a B rookie.

Hello LH. Just wondering whether you've done an updated list for 2022 including draftees/rookies? I couldn't find anything using the search function.

Certainly have.  2022 thread is here

and it is pinned near the top of this forum.

Edit:  not sure why the lines appear in black above but fully legible in the thread itself.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
