what is the ron evans medal?

The Rising Star Award, formerly known as the NAB Rising Star Award, is now called the Ron Evans Medal, in recognition of Ron Evans, (who sadly passed away recently DD) and his contribution to Australian Rules Football.

St.Kilda 12th??? To low IMO

That will give them some added motivation tomorrow night.

I'd doubt they'd use an opinion piece by some AFL hack as their motivation for tomorrow night! Maybe under the auspices of Grant 'Cornflakes' Thomas they would, but I think Ross Lyon has slightly more intelligence than Grant. I'd say the video of last years Final would have had a fair play in the clubrooms this week as motivation instead...

Are you serious?

Carlton? 8th?

It's all opinion DD. Every team in the bottom half have an argument to finishing middle of the table. Thornton. Waite, Whitnall and Fevola represent a fair spine. Murphy, Stevens, Simpson, Scotland, Carrazzo good runners. Fisher can be dangerous forward and they have some good youth in Gibbs, Walker, Kennedy and Russell.

Do I agree with 8th. No. Can I see it happening? Yes.

Predictions are just that. Geelong out of the eight last year? Ha! Collingwood 5th last year Hahahahaha. Clint Bartram to play 22 games. You're kidding.

Personally I think his prediction for Hawthorn is stranger, but he could be right.

IMO Carlton play too much absolute tripe football to finish that high. They have too many poor players that make up their 22 and depth to be realistically considered top 8.

Potentially they could put it together, realistically I think this is overestimating them.

Yes, yes, yes. If you're going to be serious about it then you could argue that the Blues could possibly win the flag. But, as I said, was it good for a laugh? Was for me. Most of it was. Personally I agree Hawthorn were high too, but I rate them much higher than the Blues. IMO they have good reason to at least be a little excited about this year.

Though admittedly not all of it was comical to me. He has to have done his homework to know that Jones is still eligible for the Ron Evans award. Many still have to be told he's up for it despite having been nominated last year.

I honestly don't think it's too bad an assessment. It's his opinion, and none of what he said is out of the question. Time will tell, but no-one ever gets pre-season predictions right, and he's taking a punt with some of those smokies at the top end of the ladder. Who would have predicted us to be up near the top in mid 2004? Or the pies to knock on the door of the top 4 last year? One or two teams will surprise this year, and he's taking a guess as to who they will be. At least he hasn't replicated last year's ladder and just swapped a couple of teams around. That would be too easy. He's trying to throw up a few surprises that could percievably occur. And he's also given some decent reasons.

wouldn't be laughing mate, there is about 85% they will be near top four. there list is very well balanced between youth and experienced players. and there younger players are guns! Hawthorn are gonna surprise everyone this year

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
