You will know the answer to question 1 once State budget is handed down today, if we are one of the few AFL clubs that don't receive any funding, the answer is nothing and our business case didn't stand up as nearly every other club is receiving money to upgrade facilities

Dr unlike every other club we want a lot more than money. We need public park  space. I MO that is the big problem. It needs state government and Melb city council and God knows how many government departments on side. It is again IMO a big ask. Especially as we are viewed as conservative silver tails.

"business case doesn't stand up"... lol!! As if something as silly as a business case has stopped Governments from doing what they want to garner as many votes for the next election.

Unfortunately for us we're in between a rock and a hard place. the Cats, Doggies etc all have home bases and probably "shovel ready" projects ready to go. Plus areas hotly contested at State and Fed elections. We have neither a home base or a big enough supporter base for anyone to give a f about.

Dont you think our club has been looking at this home base for long enough that we should have a shovel ready project.  That is my concern we dont have a concrete plan just a wish list of sites.

The hardest part seems to be the stakeholder engagement and putting pen to paper phases DrD, but yes I agree it is getting very very very frustrating.

I mentioned it awhile ago but the fact it will be a Docklands oval size LD ground is not ideal either, even if they can get the approval.

Dock lands size oval is farcical. Our home ground is the MCG, it simply must be the same dimensions as the G, otherwise we may as well train on a soccer pitch

Our MCG sized ground is Casey, that was from Bartlett from the podcast he went on.

We should be training on an MCG size pitch for all games scheduled at the G

I think from memory, Docklands oval is about the same length as the MCG, but is about 12m (?) narrower. I agree that training on a smaller oval than the MCG is "farcical" - look at how badly affected Richmond have been over the last 4 seasons by training on the Punt Road Oval ( which is even narrower than Docklands)!

Unfortunately, I have family commitments and cannot attend.

I would definitely appreciate someone asking the Melbourne Football Club what is the status of our Home Base. I would like to know where it will exactly be, how much it will cost and when will building begin? Getting a Home Base should be our number one priority besides winning a Premiership.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
