Brownlow betting market.

The current market on TAB has Lachie Neale as the red-hot favourite. Pretty much unbackable at the odds. I didn't see much of him this year but he must have had a pearler.

Second in line is our current favourite son, one Christian Petracca.

$7.00 the win; $2.00 top 3; $1.30 top 5; $1.12 top 10.

Any chance of an upset?

Funny [censored] happens in the Brownlow. It's never certain until they hang Charlie around the winner's neck.

If Neale doesn't win it'll be daylight robbery.  He's had an outstanding season and would be the worthiest of winners. Tracc has no history of polling well and it usually takes a year or so for the umps to catch up.

That's what you get when you leave it up to Umpires to adjudicate the BOG players when they generally have NFI how to adjudicate the game.

When you follow an also ran club that just makes up the numbers it is usual to be interest in " can one of our players win the Charlie". About a decade ago I decided that not to have an interest on the basis of t is what club supporters like us do. So when we are finishing regularly in the top 4 I will get interested.

Especially given from very early and for most of the year the media was beating the Neale will win the Brownlow drum. The umpires would have to hear that. Does it increase their notice of him, or do they look past him while trying to manage their internal bias?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
