Serong/Pickett trade

Pickett will likely never average more than a handful of possessions, and never kick many goals. Does a flashy move every so often though. Skills seem very average. Not the kind of player you give up what we did for.

Go look at the highlights of the North game where he won the Rising Star award.   His elite skills were on display and gave a taste of whats to come.

Amazing what people expect from a first year, 11 game, 19 year old small forward.

“I can’t stress enough on the importance of drafting more inside mids with bad skills who are slow.”

Didn’t you make these comments after trade week, when we had already traded with Nth?  Did you think we should take a slow, inside mid with bad skills instead of Kossi?

Cherry picking quotes from over a year ago. Nice. Keep spending your Friday arvo doing so, I am getting onto the bevs.

Yep let's keep reminding  of some classic Olisik quotes from 10 months ago regarding Serong.

"Another contested inside beast who looks slow. Should be a lock for pick 3 you would"

"I can’t stress enough on the importance of drafting more inside mids with bad skills who are slow".

"Taking Serong would be a disaster".

Didn’t know we drafted Kozzie at 3. That said no one cares about cherry picked Olisik 10 month old quotes mate, just like they don’t care about your Viney backpedaling. Build a bridge and get over it buddy.

We had pick 8 mate, from North...just like we had pick 2 before trading it for Tyson. We had every chance to take Serong as we did Kelly.

Must be embarrassing always being wrong Dazzle and using multiple accounts to troll.

It was the same pick from the same trade, champ. We originally had pick 8 but it was bumped to pick 12 because of all the academy selections.

Surely even you’re smart enough to know that mate.

Not according to this... take a read. We swapped pick 8 with Freo for pick 10 (which was the one pushed back), so definitely not the same pick buddy. Maybe do a little research first next time.

Hasleby going with the Freo player.

Theres about 15 players Id take ahead of Serong from the draft.  The Rising Star award doesn't mean anything really.

In the last 6 seasons Lewis Taylor, Jayden Stephenson and Callum Mills have all won it.  I suspect Serong will do about as much as them going forward.

Oh boy do I look silly with a short memory.

Either way our pick was going to get bumped a spot or two. Who knows if we would have taken him, bottom line is he’s at freo and we can’t expect Pickett to just tear games apart in his first year. He’s only 19 ffs.

Agree with some of what you have said. But 15 players ahead of Serong? That's ridiculous.

Unless we took Serong with pick 3 then he was beyond our grasp. That said Serong has been very good this season and looks like he’ll be a good long term mid forward.

Pickett has been pretty poor thus far. I was vocal that he was the wrong choice at our draft pick and I stand by it. What we are seeing from him is pretty much his whole underage career in a nutshell - barely touches the ball, barely kicks a goal, barely relays a tackle, but he looks exciting running around quickly and flying for unreality marking attempts.

We traded away the pick Serong was taken at (Pick Eight. For JKH...I mean Pickett

I still think Pickett will be a great player for us and fills a more pressing need as a crumbing small forward. I do feel like he is either being poorly coached or not receiving the feedback atm though, because he doesn't seem to get to the fall fall of the ball enough.  This will come with some experience and maturity though, and hopefully a better game plan( with a new coach).

Don’t rate Serong. Average AFL player potential. I don’t want that for a first round pick. Plenty I would have taken before him.

Jury is out on Pickett. Has shown glimpses at best. Could be a complete flop or the next Jeffy Garlett.

Can you name the players you would take before him? Keep in mind he went pick 8, which is the pick we had.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
