Where did you hear that?

It's not what's on record:

“They asked us to come out publicly support it and as a playing group, we said no. When you’ve got great Melbourne people sitting here saying this is going to happen, you almost get a sense of inevitability given where we were at.”

‘I’d had six or seven pots and didn’t make sense’: How two clubs avoided major AFL merger

Gary made his choice to go into the media, he has the benefit of zero accountability. The moment he did anything that he did have accountability for our club, he gave us Neeld.

I would have him as a consultant or part time forward line coach but nothing more.

One of the smartest footy brains out there?

Seriously?

Yes Binman by a long shot

Listen to his comments on Fox during the game and on On the Couch

Well ahead of most by far  in those forums and should be hired for Game  day and pre game tactics and selections To assist the Selection  and Match Cttees.

Our match day moves are non existent and a disgrace to a Senior Coaching group.

Get him off easy street in the media to have a crack at this pile of rabbits droppings of a club

If he gives two hoots he’ll have a crack, apparently was brilliant coaching the all stars back in the day.

Has a fantastic footy brain & a brilliant captain of the club

Unless we can get Clarko ?

?Lyon is a [censored]! He only says things to get a headline.

Sorry 58er he is a joke as a football analyst and commentator. A joke.

Who knows might be a good bloke (I went to school with him and he was a [censored], but he might have changed), and was s champion footballer.

But he is clueless about the modern game. Does not understand tactics, systems  strategies  how zones work  re list goes on and on.

He is a typical ex champion footy player who dominate footy media who think football stopped evolving the day they retired.

And collectively this grumpy of knuckle heads is a big reason why so many football fans are equally clueless about how the game is acttually played.

And ironically all you have to do to understand how rubbish Lyon is at his job is listen to him during the game, post game and on On the Couch.

I rate slobbo more highly as

He famously said he was in favour of the merger out of loyalty to "Tiger" ( Ian Ridley ) .

Wow I’m extremely disappointed with the posters hatred towards a club great & great leader.

This is a forum, to put ideas out there, Gary Lyon imo has a great football brain has a hard edge about him & could be a great coach,

If not head coach he may be interested as a forward line coach, who knows without asking

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
