Great Game,  went with a brother in law, his first for some time in person, sat one deck up in the northern stand area,

Poor bugger was not well, and kicked the bucket a short time later, so seeing this with Jacko has a special memory. He enjoyed the weekend in town and so did I.

A couple of beers and a Demons win in a finals game, cheers

A very good memory,  something really good to recall every now and then...

It was a good win but it left me with a hollow  feeling in the days after. The saints were set to smash us half way through the game and got crunched by injuries. We over ran an injury riddled side  but it was clear we were never going far in 06 or in the years around it . We were like north, a good average side and no better. We had an aging list , well past its prime and in 2007 we lost our first 9 games and were off the cliff.  Daniher was sacked at the end of the year and the era of  Bailey , Neeld , Schwabb, tanking  and Scully  ( plus Trengove, Cook, Blease etc etc etc ) had begun. This win was the last ray of light at sunset hitting our faces and immediately after  the dees headed deep into the darkest of dark nights.

That number 5 looks alright.  Clearly an all-time Demon champ and future captain.

Brock McLean . Another lost chance to develop a player into a champion.

Colin Sylvia the same. We drafted well but couldn't improve them.

Cam Bruce and Brad Green were no better at the end of their respective careers at the dees than when they started in 2000.

Let's hope Tracc, Gus and Clarrie get a chance to become the champions they should be.

Took my 8yo son for his first final....

His next final was when he was 20 to see 2 finals win @ the G in 2018

Still continues to ask why I got him to follow the dees

I think it was in the first game the following season that he busted his foot and lost any pace he ever had.  ?

EDIT:  Brock McLean that is, not Hogan2014's unfortunate son.

The tanking culture made Brock leave & no doubt destroyed the Careers of many others &  winning culture which lasted for a decade!

Stuffed his foot in round 1 2007 against the Saints on Friday night and was never the same.

This is a misrepresentation of the truth I think, remember he chose Carlton of all places.  So if " tanking" ( and lets not forget at the time it was accepted and industry wide) was his big issue then of all clubs Carlton would have been his least preferred. Brock was rejected for the captaincy, had lost pace and wasnt being offered the size of the contract he wanted.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
