without injury and with a lot of luck we could win. Chances go up slightly if they annul the first round and we don't play Geelong at Geelong or North at Hobart etc. Not sure that our gameplan suits a three games in two weeks schedule. We will definitely need to win a few "ugly" as they used to say.

The truth is we have more chance of winning the rejigged season than as it was. Our first half draw was the draw from hell and by now the season could have been practically over and we would all be screaming for a new coach.

Is that really on the table? I would've thought having that one round in the bag opens the door for more options for the AFL, only reason I could see them removing it is if they decide that in unbalances the Home vs Away games for each club.

As an aside to that, would one option the AFL table maybe be (as a way to avoid unfair advantages that the WA clubs keep sooking about) to actually try to create as many neutral games. ie play Melbourne vs WC in Adelaide, WC vs Sydney in Melbourne etc

Obviously you then play Melbourne vs Pies at the G, WC vs Freo in Perth. This then eliminates the potential of certain clubs getting unfair home ground advantages. Imagine the uproar from the cats fans! ?

Given that this season will be more like an exhibition rather that a season that gives all teams more of an equal fair go,  should it have the same status as other seasons? Should there be a Grand Final this year?

No way it will have the same status as other seasons. By mid June, it will be good if we get can through 10+ games and a couple of finals. We won't know how it will be judged until afterwards but it feels more like an experiment than a season at the moment.  I'd settle for some entertainment and a few wins

Won’t be the same without Crowds. Whatever gets played this year will be financial to keep Clubs alive.
I heard some EPL Players this morning interviewed.
very nervous times... The 2nd Wave hasn’t come yet

At least we are not in the USA!!

It will always be the Corona Cup

Do i care? I don’t know

There is far more serious stuff going on and both my parents are old...

Almost like a Pre-Sereason comp.    Or a night series comp,  in conjunction with the normal H&A season.

If we won the flag this year I would be bloody ecstatic. It would suck not being there or winning in an empty stadium, would be extremely eerie. But I'd still be celebrating like a madman with the family, wife, kids, parents, brother, sister, cousins, aunts and uncles. Especially if it was against the Pies or Tigers (or even West Coast)

I’ve spent the last 40 years desperately hoping we might get that elusive premiership.

Every instinct in me as a sportsman and competitor wants Melbourne to win at all costs but as a supporter i’m worried we will win.

I don’t want our first premiership in nearly 70 years having an * next to it.

Do we even want to win it this year?

I'd rather we use this year to get our list fit and experiment using players in different positions and strengthen our hand in the draft. We can then retire a couple of older players on good coin with some quality draftees and target a free agent.

Kangaroos have our 1st round pick this year

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
