 Melbournehi  — Luke Jackson

Ruckmen aren’t usually taken in the top 10 and they usually take years to mature. But there is a belief that Jackson – the basketball convert Melbourne drafted at Pick 3 – is ready to step into Simon Goodwin’s best 22. And he admitted to foxfooty.com.au last year that he wanted to play Round 1. The Demons possess one of the best ruckmen in the AFL in three-time All-Australian Max Gawn, but some believe Jackson can play as a forward or even as a midfielder, despite standing at 197cm tall.

I suspect kozzie will be first. Meets a desperate need (crumbling forward wirh x factor), fitness nor such a critical requirement in his position and is built like a bar fridge.

Jordan might be a chance if he impresses in the pre season games.

My feeling is Kozi could get a shot early on given or desperate need to fill that position.

Seems Jordon will get a shot to impress in the preseason comp.

Has he shrunk 2cm since coming to Melbourne? That’d be right!

Bit early to call, but I like what I'm hearing about Rivers.

Rivers attracts my attention, as well. Jackson also could be a forward asset and part-time ruck in the area.

There’s a position wide open for Pickett, so he’ll get a game before others due to that.

Of the new draftees, Rivers is probably the most ready and versatile, so barring injury I expect him to crack a game playing hbf/midfield.

Jackson appears a way off and needs to add more strength as he currently gets pushed around in most contests at training. People need to be patient with him as talls take longer and just because he’s a high draft pick, doesn’t mean he’ll crack a game and dominate.

James Jordon was developing nicely late last year when moved into the midfield at VFL level, and it sounds as though he’s continued to develop over preseason. We’ll likely see him debut next season.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
