Insipid at the end at definitely time to go. To suggest another Club would even consider a lifeline is an absolute joke!!

Grow up.

There is a time and place for it. This is not it.

Yes noted those skilful players in the Jeffy highlights package! Traded out Watts and Kent for more grunt oh well. Gee we could use a 2015 Jeffy now with his speed and goal sense. But as I have said in the past did our game plan of 2017/18 kill him? High forward press, congested forward line, multiple forward entries but  no space to run. Looking at his highlights package he worked best when he had space and was one on one.

Earl there is no one in the AFL that does 'congested forward line' better.

Everyone keeps saying there's nothing about our game plan they can dentify with.  Well i beg to differ!

The club obviously realises this strength and has removed all silk/X factor players now in preference for meat n potato types and ball hackers.  Good on them for thinking outside the box i say.

You watch....this is gonna pay off.  Maybe not in 2020 but mark my words it'll be worth the wait!

Watch this come back and haunt us, I reckon another club will pick him up and he will play well.

Thanks Jeffy, loved watching you play!

Dec played two AFL games for two wins. A 100% win rate is a very rare thing at our club. Well done, kid.

Jeffy was wonderful at his best. A great contributor. Farewell both.

Keilty was the talisman. stats don't lie !!get him back in !!

Jeffy played some great footy for us when we were still on struggle street, and was electrifying at his very best.

As I mentioned on the podcast last night, his career numbers are pretty damn good.

Jeffy: 185 games for 321 goals

Cyril: 189 games for 275 goals

Happy trails Jeff. Provided a lot of thrills and magic at crucial times. Sad to see him go.

Obviously I must be missing something that the recruiters are privy to and I am not.

From the outside he looks like the single most capable player of kicking 3+ goals in a game

It's true you get 1 dud game for every 4 games played, but in those 3 other games you are guaranteed 1+ goals. He has a goal sense that the others simply do not, and causes oppositions to panic just knowing he is around. He also gives away goals and his pressure is no worse than others.

This year he had a terrible run with injuries (2 shoulders this year), and when he did get on the ground suffered from our mids bombing the ball into the 50m zone directly to the opposition. This curtailed his ability to get to the drop of the ball at the feet of T McDonald etc.

At 30 years old, why wouldn't have we put him on a 1year contract on reduced coin and let him see how he went (hopefully fit after a pre-season). If we really think we're a chance to rebound into the finals then his experience would count. Otherwise delisting him seems to me to reek of a club hitting the "re-build" button

I agree entirely. There are, I assume, factors we don't know about. He did seem to go off the boil towards the latter part of last year - personal matters to do with family by the sound of it - and this season was ruined by 2 shoulder injuries and our woeful forward delivery. If he had been willing I would have loved to see him play on.

I saw him at the Shepp game and have a photo of the contest when he did his shoulder. Looked really hungry for the ball before he got injured and i said to myself "Now THIS is the Jeffy we need this year". [censored] !!

Shame for the bloke that he got injured and didnt return to his best for that and other reasons. ( *I have no idea what they were)

At his best he was a huge asset. Seemed like a genuinely nice fella off the field too. I would love a night at he pub with him and Nev.

All the best Jeffy, i hope life after footy is great for you.

There's a decent list I'd have cut before him. We now don't have a single AFL quality small forward on our list.

All the best Jeffy, you were a terrific addition to MFC. Hope life after footy is good to you. Thanks.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
