Did goodwin talk to the crowd? Maxy Im sure would have been a hit with everyone.

Goody mingled with the fans and was very accommodating. Down to earth and happy to talk about his "boys". He has always been this way, he hasn't changed. When asked about the injuries, Garlett and JKH are touch and go, but as far as he knows the rest will be in line for round 1. Yes, the lines for Maxy and Viney were a long wait, but all us girls formed our own line for Robbo24! More photos for the collection!

Max?

How would I know?  It came from another poster who spoke to an unnamed player. Good to hear though.

Had a wonderful time with the kids who was on their best behaviour. Lines to Viney, Bradshaw, Gawn etc were long especially when you had to be next to the speakers. Gawn asked my niece who was his favourite player and she said “you!” He just laughed and said “you’re just saying that!”

Jones held up my little nephew in the photo. Got some great shots, but being they’re not my children, I can’t post them online. Bumped into a few people I see at games. Great to catch up.

Noticed Melkshan was in arts and crafts. Made these neat badges for my younger niece/nephew. Being her birthday soon, she asked “Aunty Cass, can we go to the demon shop?” Ended up forking out over $50, but at least I’m set for birthdays now.

All in all, a great day. Not too hot like last year and good to see even more people.

My understanding is that Goody gave up on that plan for the extra two behind the ball about half way into last year.

Cant believe players can be so inflexible !(or selfish) If they aren't mentally right about this then let them learn at Casey.

BTW what did they do before Goody invented this move? Start on the forward line obviously.

Please if this is one of our real worries we have got problems. Send them on a Camp to get their heads in the right place!!!

Players don't dictate rules or positions in the game and definitely not in this Demons era of success.

Relax, I have discussed this with some players, including at the Sponsors function today, they are just getting ised to it

Only real issue is giving away a silly free kick for not being in the correct position that costs a goal

Did any of the players mention anything regarding Hogan leaving and their thoughts about it?

I didn't see Hogan there, and the players didn't either, so...out of sight, out of mind I guess. As Winston Churchill said, "Let us go forward together."

The ladies were awesome to talk to today. Very approachable and quite obvious they were still on a high from last night’s victory. Grinning from ear to ear they were. Good luck to them next week.

General question, Red, more a follow up on the conversation.

Max had been around four a while so would know how the newbies are rated, particulary Bradke

Robbo interviewed Bradtke at the function, seems to be an already popular guy amongst the boys

Tommy Mc has been mentoring Bradtke on his forward craft, Robbo pushed Tommy under the bus by saying Tommy told him that Bradtke could be anything or nothing??

The comment on tbe newbies came from Brayshaw and also Jake Lever

Thanks Saty good to hear your comment. As they say "It will be all right on the night!!"  Hasn't changed my optisim for a stellar season and can't wait to see the Dees at the Cattery for a good old fashioned contest in a developing rivalry all of which helps build a smaller Club into a potential major player in the future.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
