FROSTY

After languishing at Casey for all bar two matches in the first 15 rounds and being initially overlooked for a spot in defence after Jake Lever’s injury, Sam Frost took his opportunity when selected against Fremantle in Round 16 and never looked back adding his strong marking, pace and rebounding style to the team’s key defensive area.

I thought his field kicking was much improved... And it needed to be

Love his attack on ball and his tackling

I think he is not just depth

What is there to say about Frosty? Disappointed when he wasn't picked ahead of others and when he finally got his chance he held on to it and played consistent footy. His asset is his tearaway pace and his consistency to take on the game.  Played in 3 finals and held his own which is valuable experience.

Well done Frosty a good stepping stone to your playing future.

Frost has improved greatly. I love his run and his strength. Can take a very good mark as well. Takes the game on and sometimes it comes unstuck. But I have him miles ahead of OMac at this point and we looked better in the 2nd half of the year when he came in.

Reminds me of Sean Wight more than any other player on our list, the way he can come from nowhere with a diving spoil.  Love his ability to read the ball comming down and courage to run off his man to spoil or intercept, best example I recall was him playing off Lance Franklin to spoil, the week or so after Franklin had booted a bag and won Sydney the game off his own boot.

That time he evaded and burnt off Franklin like the latter was standing still was a rare highlight from an ordanary game.

One of the other things I really like about Frosty is his ability to really put the boot into it.  That kick out against the Hawks in the semi was something else.  Also remember him slotting through a similar length kick for a goal a few years back (against North perhaps?).

Will be interesting to see what the future holds for Frosty.  If we were to pick up May, could we be looking to turn him back into a ruck/forward perhaps?  The addition of May would make things interesting all round, as from what I understand, May can play forward pretty well himself.  I'm also wondering if Frosty might even be used as part of a trade for May, as were we to pick up May, either he or O Mac could become a bit redundant.

Frosty is another who is really underrated at DL. I thought his form toward the end of the season was outstanding. His attack on the ball was super aggressive and he consistently turned defense into attack. High risk play will inevitably lead to some turnovers but the rewards are worth it.

As already mentioned that torp up the middle of the ground was awesome! He just about landed it in the centre circle.

I get a bit sick of people flogging defenders constantly. It is the hardest part of the ground to play in as every mistake had consequences. The way people put the boot into frosty, omac and previously tmac is entirely missing both the context of their mistakes and the difficulties all defenders experience when there are lapses in running and pressure up the ground.

Anyway, great second half of the year. I hope to see him in the team consistently next year (form willing).

Probably one of the real improvements I think he made after comming back in the back half of the season was cutting out most if not nearly completely the absolute clanger turnovers where he would kick it out on the full or straight to the opposition at short range.  My other observation was that even the times he did turn it over after really taking on the game, it didn't hurt us so much, because he'd gained so much ground for us that we had time to reset our defense rather than it turning into scoring opportunities for the opposition, probably also in part due to the rest of the team transitioning back into defense around these plays as well.

IMHO Frosty is greatly underappreciated on DL.

After Lever went down our defence went to the toilet until Frosty came in; then suddenly it was much better.

His speed and power are serious weapons and he’s seriously improving everything else.

I also have him well ahead of Oscar.

Thankfully common sense prevailed and he was selected for first team games again.

Really out of favour for the first half of the year but when he got his chance he made every post a winner. Unfortunately he looks to be on the outer again considering we are looking at May.

I agree with the positives noted by others, but wanted to add that he is a smiling assassin in the Bernie mould. He really likes to make a tackle hurt and has some serious but very well controlled aggression. I really think it would be a huge mistake to trade him.

After a great 2nd half of the year as a defender, could Sam Frost be our much-needed wingman? His relatively poor disposal says no. His pace, versatility and improved kicking skills say…maybe?

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
