Oscar was very good and ANB had 9 CP and 9 tackles. both stiff along with 20 touches and a goal. If Viney is an 8 then ANB is at least a 7.

A bit harsh on Petracca there.  If Salem gets a seven with his cervine tactics, surely Petracca rates equally with his six tackles and one brilliant assist to his captain?

Hit T Mac on the chest too for the opening goal.   Even when hes a bit off hes still creative and dangerous.

And yes that goal assist to Jonesy was great.

If the dees one was written by the same scribe as the Geelong one they are a little flexible. I saw comments on twitter and followed the link. People were complaining that Dangerfield was given a 7. By the time I looked he had been downgraded to a 6. (Still reckon he was a 3 or 4 though.)

Harmes should be given a 10 just for smashing selwood all game. He was massive for us.

Rewatched the game, (3rd time), ANB for sure a 7.

Dangerfield was a 5.  We controlled him all night.  Got the pill but was grounded in impact.

He gave away 6 frees, had 12 clangers and his disposal efficiency was 52%. 5 is generous IMO.

Just 3 clearance and 3 inside 50s. Also spent time forward yet didn't kick a goal and only managed one assist all game. An occasion where the stats do a reasonable job of telling the story - Dangerfield was often sighted but rarely noted. With all the frees against and clangers, yep, he'd have to be below a 5.

As for the ratings of the Demon players, well, I think the main thing I thought was important was that very few, if any, players really failed on the day, and as long as their ratings reflect that I can't really worry too much about the details.

Still wrapped for any extra praise on Weideman as I think every little extra piece of confidence that comes his way will add up.

Looking more and more like we're going to have to figure out a permanent 3-talls forward line next season. I'd say it can work if they balance their loads to all spend as close to 100% time on field as possible, letting the mids use the bench more.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
