Which MFC player have you met personally?

I'll start of by saying I remember chatting to Adam Yze a couple of years ago and he is a great bloke. Took the time to have a chat and sign my jumper. Nathan Brown is a ripper of a bloke too!

I haven't really had any players that have snubbed me yet.

I've met Robbo and he is a ripper bloke and have played alongside Garland, and against Neville.

Garland is such a good person and he is easy to be friends with, but I don't really know Neville

Robbo - He and his band performed a few numbers at my cousins wedding at the Arts Centre in early 06. Top bloke.

Also bumped into Wheatley and Whelan at a 21st some years back, just before the season started. I must have given them bad luck as we ended up 14th. Both were very friendly.

Never been snubbed by any Melbourne players. In fact, I've seen most of them out and about and from my encounters, they've behaved really well.

This is in stark contrast to quite a few footballers from different teams who I used to see regularly at my old job.

I agree with above sentiments regarding Robbo as well. He's a great ambassador for our club, and the nicest footballer you ever hope to meet.

i met a heap of them at the crown quite a few years ago cos i ran into matty bishop who i grew up playing football with and so met them through him, everyone was cool

the best thought was the game we played sydney and locket kicked his 100th i met the ox as i walked to the ponsorf stand, he was just finishing a run with some fitness guy and he stopped and chatted for quite a while all cos i asked how the knee was and thought id only get a quick reply due to just being on a run and all

Matty Bate...one of nature's gentlemen. Met his family at the lunch on his debut at the G...lovely people. Met him after the match and then at the B & F at the Palladium. Mature and dedicated from what I could see at his young age.

He's also a song writer and plays guitar.

And he has a good line in chat apparently...just ask my daughter after the B & F!

A top bloke and future leader of our club.

Yeh i can top all of these Once when i was 5 or so we went 2 the footy and we got in an elevaltor and standing in that elevator was the one the only the Ox (who was out because of injury) and just stood there and my face went as red as a betroot and i managed to scramble out the "...hi" and a wave and he said "hi how u goin?" or something like that but the soon the ride was over and we went our seperate ways ohh thats 1 of my favourite red and blue moments

Also 2 years ago when the dees played the roos at mankua oval (bad speller) at half time i tried to get a hi-fi from adam yze as he went into the change rooms he didnt notice me and i hit his chest instead

Met Troy Broadbridge in the supermarket once. Was a very fine fellow. Very nice and happy to chat answer any questions i had (it was during the 2004 pre season) about training.

Kicked the footy and had a really good chat with Robbo at TBO i think at the end of 2002 family day. It was my 18th bday that day and he had some very nice things to say and also some solid advice for me.

I dont think i've ever been 'snubbed' by a player... but i remember Andrew Leoncelli staring at my ex-girlfriend lke there was no tomorrow once. Fair enough, she admittedly was very attractive, but we were 17 and he basically needed someone to pick his jaw up off the table... thats how much he was staring... in hindsight that really is funny. lol

Brad Miller. At an after match function at Subiaco, Perth about three years ago. Just about everything was over and we were just hanging around having a few drinks. My 5 year old son was running around the social club and went "awol", found him sitting over against a wall with Brad Miller chatting away like they'd known each other all their lives. I think Brad said he has younger brothers and sisters (Brad is one of six??) and spent quite a bit of playing with him. Also took time to talk about holidays and other non football related stuff.

Left very impressed that a 20 year old had his head so firmly screwed on and was so down to earth.

The same night I also got to talk and have a few beers with Andrew Leoncelli and Stephen Tingay after the players had left. That was pretty cool.

Best of all was talking to Brett Ratten (then mid field coach) and asking him if he was telling people he was a better player after he had retired, Ratten didnt get it and a couple of other people around us cracked up. He left us at the end of the season, was it something I said?

Back in 92 at our family day at Caulfield racecourse. Was 12 approached G. Lyon for an autograph and told me to come back after he finished his snag.

I met Garry some years ago when he was MC for a night at a Network Gaming function I assisted in organising in Hobart.

Garry did himself no favours that evening, there were several Melbourne supporters including myself when we approached Garry you couldn't have met a more ignorant individual. Garry was more interested in other things.

I met OX at the Crown, gee some 9 years ago... top bloke.

I've heard a number of stories from close friends of mine who've run into Gaddy in various instances over the last 4 years or so and each and every one of them have said he was a great guy to talk to, and very easy to approach. Perhaps it's only been post-divorce and post-career that he's dropped the ego, and maybe I'm way off mark, but it needs to be said that not EVERY story of meeting Lyon was a disaster.

Chris Lamb and Nathan Carroll came to our school a couple of years ago....great with the students, and of course I had to have photos taken with them.!!!!!...me in the middle ...WOW. Now up on the wall at school, shown off with much pride and passion !!!!!

I used to think Garry was a real gentleman until similar stories of his arrogance.

Just got back from a late breakfast at Roys cafe in Fitzroy St.

Robbo , Yze and the Chook were sitting next to me. Told them to bring us home a flag. They laughed and had a joke.

PS Mclean is huge.

I really like that McLean is hanging out with the older players.

In fact, he could even teach them a thing or two <_< ;)

I've met Jeff White a few times. The first was a few years back at the airport when he was going to get his shinguard fitted/measured. He was checking in and running a bit late for his plane, but was more than happy to talk to me for around 5 minutes. Top bloke!!!

No one has mentioned the coach! Great bloke and always willing to have a chat under any circumstances. Agree with some posters about Browny, and have had a few good chats with Rivers and Dunn as well.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
