You could argue the initial free kick was incorrect but the facts are once that whistle goes that's it. Swearing and carrying on won't change anything. It's one of the first things you are taught as a junior.

It wasn't given in the back half, I don't think it matters where abouts on the ground but if you want to argue that, it's even more critical that you don't turn a 65m kick into a 15m one. I think I recall that even on the goal line he refused to shut up.

And as for Ablett being a protected species, he was given holding the ball at least 3 times that I can remember. He is a champion of the game and arguably the best ever. Opposition coaches would have entire filing cabinets dedicated to Ablett, they would know what he is going to do before he decides himself and he still does as he pleases.

I apologize @McQueen I owe you a beer. The three of them are as bad as each other. The umpires buy into this whole Dangerously crap.

Makes me sick. I hope Oliver Gawn and co gob off at the umpires forever just so we aren't known as teachers pets

Lewis has been charged with misconduct against Mathieson and can accept a $1500 fine. I don't remember the incident so can't comment but these fines have replaced suspensions. Was it bad enough to have been suspended last year?  Whatever it was that's two games so far this season and two indiscretions. Following on from being suspended early last season.

WTF!!  Here's a player thrown an extra two to three years purely on the basis of the on field LEADERSHIP he's going to bring to the Club. And this is how he repays the Club. Wake up mate. Hope he's been told to go away and have a big hard think about himself.

Who cares if he is fined?

Happy for him to be smashing someone like Mathieson

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
