Only thing that can stop us is injuries.

Its our 20th year anniversary of that great comeback of 1998.

We need to make finals this year and win at least one. For me that would at least partially make up for missing finals last year. We were cooked last year and would have got flogged in the finals, so finals and a win is a must!

Even listening to a few of our injuries, think we are better placed to cover them, and make finals!

I am certain I read an analysis that showed that, statistically, we were far, far worse between 2008-2016 than we were throughout the 70s.

Without GWS, and if you include having finished equal last on wins with the Saints in 2014, we would have "won" 4 wooden spoons over a 9 year period.

I recall at least 3 or maybe 4 years in the 70s when we won 4 games or less out of 22 in a comp of 12 teams. They were also different times where there was no TV coverage of lowly clubs, just to add to the humiliation.

Losing repeatedly twice a year to some pretty ordinary mid tier teams felt far more debilitating than being one of 2 or 3 clubs out of 18 that has struggled.

Naturally l agree that both periods were dark years for the club. I suppose the recency effect makes the more current experience more memorable.

Also Unlike today, you got no draft pick "rewards" by finishing last. You simply finished last.

Yeah but that debacle against Fitzroy. Not even our Geelong embarrassment topped that.

$3-4 million of extra spending inside our footy department should solve that problem.

Barring a shocking run with injuries if we don't make finals this year, I think President, CEO and Coach will all be under massive pressure.

And so they should be ... we cannot accept mediocrity as it has appeared so often. Radical change is what we must be striving for every season and the Club officials have been responsible for these outcomes. I'd like to entice Paul Roos back to the Club as coach, ASAP.

President and CEO, doubtful. Coaching team, sure. PJ has worked magic. You can't understate how bad a position the club was in when he arrived. We had actually taken a step back from the days of Dimetrouhsbjwkcjshs saying our "brand is worthless". How the hell do you fall *backwards* from being worthless?

We have to expect to make finals every year, that’s the base line for any power club.

When these clubs don’t make finals it is seen as an aberration that must be addressed quickly.

For too long The MFC has focused on survival

In 1965 the Tigers stepped on to the MCG and we slowly stepped back.

Time to reclaim Demon land rights

Return of the Roos? - Good name for the campaign. May the force be with you.

Since football makes more money than cricket there, let us stay there. Or else see how they survive without us

MELBOURNE finished 4th in this years JLT comp and Richmond finished 4th last year, so I take that as the 2018 flag is ours.

And we won an AFLX premiership, making us the greatest top 4 preseason team ever.

But i digress from the fascinating stat of what we do in 10 year blocks.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
