If we lose to Richmond I will.....

I'll be annoyed but I won't be writing the season off.

The more I think about it, the loss of Lewis really has been big. His addition to the team takes the pressure off Jones, Vince and Viney so it is no coincidence that those three haven't been quite as good since he's been out.

I'm happy that Hogan has another key forward in Smith next to him, I just wish it was Pedersen instead, fingers crossed we don't get caught on the half forward line because there aren't enough genuine options forward.

Lewis has certainly been a handy pick-up, no denying that, but with players like Oliver etc stepping it up a notch this year, due to natural developmentent etc, Lewis should really just be icing on the cake, not a vital cog.  Certainly hasn't helped that Viney has struggled for form and the absence of Big Max, but time for the rest to stand up.

Depending on how and how badly we did loose, but I'd seriously start to question Goodwin's revamped/next evolution game plan, the present implementation of it or lack thereof, whichever the case may be.

Even though we won the game against Carlscum, we looked bloody awful, chipping the ball around and overusing it on countless occasions.  Bar Big Max the troops have hardly changed this year and my feeling is that we have gone backwards in most our performances to date.  The Geelong and Fremantle games where we have dominated the time in forward half and forward 50 entries, but failed to score and been hurt badly on the rebound are symptomatic of the deficiencies in the teams game at present.

Will see what Hogan's return brings and in all honesty I'd be prepared to give Goodwin a few more weeks yet, but I'm far from convinced that the system is working as it should at the moment.

Watch the replay of last years' win whilst I deal with my denial issues.

Get very drunk (although that is my answer to many questions)

Be pretty [censored] off. Shouldn't lose to Richmond. Fortunately, we won't.

Wonder whether we'll win a game until Gawn comes back.

AS I still am  getting over last week .....   will  be rather annoyed. The $2.25  is tempting odds  but I just cannot put money on         Hoping for a good result do not care about the $

if we can win tonite  and over  the bumers and Dorks    will be a good 3 weeks     Fingers and everything else crossed !!!

Be bloody disappointed,  but wont panic.  There will be just five days til the Essendon game and if we are 3-3 after six games we are well and truly in the hunt.

Dont ask what I will do if we lost to both Richmond and Essendon though.....

Given this post I guess I'll be pulling double duty. :P

If we lose, it'll already be double-duty without Nasher absconding. Deleting the proliferating threads alone will be a full-time workload.

If we lose to both Richmond and Essendon I'll be distraught. I cannot even fathom the club sinking that low again after all this time. Get the job done Dees. If you just put in the effort for 4 quarters each week you'll win 4-5 of the next 6 and be finals bound!

I don't like how we continually title headings based on negative outcomes.

Instead of 'if we lose to ........ i will', why can't it be 'if we win against ......... i will not'

In that spirit, if we win against the Tigers, i will not have this feeling of lingering negativity for a whole week!

  • NON-MFC: Round 02

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Sunday’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
