Demons Supporter Area ANZAC Eve

Featured Replies

Looking forward to attending my first ANZAC Eve match this Monday. I know i can get entry with membership but want to be amongst friendly demons . Any suggestions on where to sit? Are there any designated support areas for MFC

Was wondering the same thing, I assume all of level 1 will be reserved for Richmond supporters bar AFL members and only Level 4 General Admission so unlikely any area for MFC supporters unfortunately.

Edit - Maybe behind the goals of Ponsford stand?/ Is this GA

AFL Members on the ground is almost exclusively Richmond. Maybe a few hundred Melbourne supporters but we'll be heavily outnumbered. Last year was a bit better because it was our home game but Richmond on a roll, 4-0, night game ... I suspect most of our fans will be demoted to the Ponsford Stand.

Yeah if you want to sit on the wings, you can upgrade to a reserved seat for $25 if you're a MFC member. I'll probably just go to the top of the olympic stand though.

General Admission Seating

  • Great Southern Stand: Q1-Q15
  • Ponsford Stand: M28 (Rows X-MM), M29-M34, Q29-Q36
  • Olympic Stand: Q49-Q53 (Rows O-MM), Q54-Q57
  • Cheer Squad: Bay M33 (Rows A-S)

Can't speak for the other areas but the Ponsford Stand areas were predominantly Dees supporters two years ago when it was Rich home game.

Basically a few bays on Level 1 Ponsford or the top of Olympic and Southern Stands for GA.

I'll be ground level AFL members. I've reserved seats undercover M25 but if there are better seats available closer to the wing I'll be moving there

It will be cold and after last Saturday a large number of MFC supporters will stay home  and who could blame them

80% Richmond supporters I would think.

Melbourne has been crying out for more prime time FTA/marquee games - and you're suggesting supporters will stay home because it's going to be a little bit cold and because they're upset the team got rolled by less than a kick last week? We should get 25-30k there, Richmond will probably get 40k-odd. If there's not at least 25k Melbourne supporters there then we don't deserve these slots and don't deserve to complain about the AFL fixturing.

If there are 25k there it will be a bloody miracle.  There was only 27k there last satuerday including Freo supporters on a good day when we thought we were  a shoe in Dr.

SWYL we Got 27k last week when we thought we could win. How on earth do you expect more on a Monday night in the cold when we are playing an undefeated team ? You are suffering a large case of imaginatise. Stop dreaming.

Neither one of us will be able to prove that SWYL. But as an interest what is well represented?

27k probably 25k Melbourne supporters. Many away for Easter or other family commitments. I will be disappointed if there is less than 25k Demons there.

Just exactly how cold do you expect it to be? It's not exactly the depths of July, the forecast is for a low of 15.

25-30,000 of our 40,000 membership

I figure we'll get about 28,000 and they'll get about 40,000 along. Add in an extra 2,000 for the neutrals and we should get a crowd of approximately 70,000. Pity it's not our home game.

Not sure where else to put this - but are we going to follow Essendon and Collingwood into mid-week with our ANZAC eve clashes from here on in? I'm all for it, but do the benefits outweigh the negatives?

Yep - we'll likely play Essendon or Collingwood the following week each year (this year Essendon)

We've really been gifted Essendon. They've already hit the wall and we're getting them on a fast ground after a 5-day break. Regardless of this week's result, we should utterly pummel the Bombers.
