On Kent, I watched him pretty closely after half time after I saw his stats at the main break. I saw him running free with a gap on his man forward of the ball at least 5 times that I can remember only for team mates (Lumumba, Matt Jones etc) to take other options. 

Our game plan is very much to get the ball over the top, yet we failed to pull the trigger on those kicks. 

Personally I think our game plan is out of sync and needs to have more forwards leading up at the ball and/or overlapping with midfielders, particularly on a windy day on the big spaces of the G when we don't have many players with the ability or confidence to hit targets. But you can't blame someone for following orders. 

I thought Watts, Hogan, Garlett and Kent all sat too deep, whilst Vanders and Ben Kennedy got more of the ball leading up and getting involved in play. 

I'm all for the Garlett over the top play from kick outs or deep turnovers but in general play I wasn't impressed by what I think is a structural issue as much as poor play. 

Our best piece of play for day was Jones and Vince getting the ball to the wing and then Watts hitting up before turning and kicking to Hogan coming towards the ball. 

The point is I'm not opposed to Kent getting another chance, and for that matter letting Hogan off for some of his poor play if the coaches put their hands up and say the game plan just wasn't working on the weekend. It certainly could've been lazy/greedy forwards trying to get it over the back but it seemed to happen too many times just for that and I question if the forwards were instructed wrong and/or the mids and backs weren't on the same page at all.

Apparently, he has had off-field (personal) issues. There've been comments around the place, with no-one wanting to elaborate. Whatever it is, it has led to him having a less than ideal pre-season and getting up to speed. Yes there were a couple but more who had no excuse other than they started believing in our own BS.

 

I'd bring in one (or both) of Stretch and Hunt for a bit of run, Dunn and perhaps O'Mac for a bit of height, and ANB because he seems to have been the standout player at Casey, and that needs to be rewarded.

Outs from Kent, Harmes and ... not sure. Presumably Brayshaw will be better for the run, but it's a fitness dept. call.

Mr Dazzledavey36, I am really p.ssed off with Dees  after their performance against Essendon.What changes possibly can we make especially when our reserve side hasn't played a match. Take a look at Brayshaw's performance.The MFC should demand that the VFL starts the same time as the AFL. The Wafl starts 2 weeks earlier . Frost needs to come back into the side. Who else I don't think anyone is up to it.

Bring in Petracca and Trengove and Barassi and Diamond Jim Tilbrook.

Stretch, Hunt O Mac and Dunn are all below VFL standard. They cannot compete at AFL level. How did we end up with these losers?

[censored] oath it should happen. Don't even care if it loses us the game, a statement must be made for this club to show it has any culture or backbone. It is absolutely egregious that any players went in with this attitude and should be punished appropriately.

Roos promised us a team of competitors. We did not have a team of competitors in the second game of the year. That's a Premiership coach failing the litmus test spectacularly. It's his job to ensure the players selected are competing on match day and he failed.

Especially when countless posters here called the inevitable result. SURELY the coaches saw it coming unless they, too, live in a bubble of delusion.

Dunn, really? The rest are young, developing players that are VFL standard and hopefully will improve to come into the firsts and play a role, they may not be ready but they are not losers yet. Thanks for all your positivity by the way.
