If anyone knows. Does the other players in the AFL support the EFC players, or are they really annoyed about how they have acted and what they have tried to get away with?

its a good question and I suspect individuals will differ. The joke of a players assoc however support them....because we all know who's hand is up their .......

The AFL should be actively discouraging the players but when you have a CEO who says he feels the players were innocent and feels for them.

Hate to open a hornets nest. But if some other clubs are participating in similar "on the edge" regimes, they might get more support than what we expect.

IMO dc the job should have been given to an outsider the AFL is an old boys club which explains why he got the job.

The AFL is desperately in need of a new broom with no allegiances to the insiders.

His handling of the mess has been appalling though, as has Essendon's, Dimetriou's, The Commission's, the AFLPA's, most of the media's (due to accreditation issues), the former federal government, and most of all the EFC and players legal teams! The only people who come out of this with any credibility are Andruska, McDevitt, the team at ASADA, and the team at WADA. Might just be because they are the only ones who have bothered to understand what is actually going on!

he may have inherited the mess up to point, but he was never going to be the one to fix it up

I wish them all the pain in the world. I wish their drug cheating club would fold, and fade into history, but we can clearly see that the afl has plans for them to return to the top asap. You know, big crowds are good for business and all that. Dill gets a nice bonus when crowds are up.

As for the EFC insurers paying for this, I guess they assume there is a small chance they will get off.  So it is worth a bet of $500K  on it.  That may just save them an enormous payout that dwarfs the $500K gamble.  I expect they are simultaneously hiring lawyers to find an angle whereby they can dodge paying EFC if they lose.

Interesting insurance claim to say the least, possible contract breaches there..... club breached its duty of care to the players, players acting outside the clubs code of conduct, acting in a manner likely to bring the club into disrepute...etc etc....if they do payout, good luck finding another insurer in the future....

When the AFL seek to 'protect' the brand, it ceases to be a game that has passion. They are treating it like a business and people(fans/players) don't follow businesses, they follow passion.

People expect fair according to the rules. They also understand that there are unfair moments, not everything ends in a fairytale. And not everything can have a clause "because it makes great viewing"

The fans are not stupid and don't like to be handled.

The only bit I object to CT is that the game is not as good as viewing as it was before the multi interchange happened.
