But did Dyson Heppel's negative metres gained set up his teammates for compelling attacks? If they did, maybe they were beneficial to his team.

All these new stats, like "percentage of scores from inside fifties that result from a drive from half back caused by a turnover after a hard ball get when the roof is closed" .... sounds like farnarkling.

Check how many times commentators in print and on radio/TV quote them. Do they really mean much?

I would love to know what stats the experts (as in the coaching panels) actually look at to know how their team is travelling.

I don't like Heppel. I'm jealous. I wish he played for us.

Every possession he gets sets the Bombers up for a forward thrust. Very like Pendlebury. Somehow he senses who is out by himself , and has time to direct a pass to him, setting up a dangerous attack.

The only player we have with comparable skills is Watts, but he doesn't get the ball as often.

Heppel marks well for his size, never fumbles, is deadly accurate in front of goals, and runs all day.

I hate his narcissistic dreadlocks, but admire his skills like mad.

Does anyone know what is Pendlebury's stat for metres gained? Interesting to compare to Heppel's.

Here are some useless stats. I have adjusted the MFC stats for the time spent on ground (matches times time on ground %). Shows you can make stats say anything. Interesting where some players rank.

Sorry can't work out how to post an excel spreadsheet

Samael you are a tease. You start with here are some useless stats, then nothing!

Half of me is annoyed, half is relieved, the other half couldn't care less.

Questions for anyone who actually knows.

1. Was Heppel injected?*

2. What is his contract status?

3. Is he happy at EssUndone?

If not injected and OOC he would be worth making a run for, however unlikely.

* supplementary question from WADA - if so, with what?

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
