yes and no.

He DOES get amongst it........sometimes. The thing for mine is the effectiveness of any excursions into the world of argy bargy , or rather the lack of it. It's rare a tackle does much. I can only hope more and continued Coaching in said art can change this.

You don't need to play like Atilla the Hun, but if you're going to tackle...tackle with effect

I've noticed Colin Garlands tackling this year has been great.

Now, I'll admit that Watts is really pushing his luck and I will not be in the least bit surprised if he ends up in the 2's this weekend. However, what really p!sses me off is cretins like yourself who take pleasure in the fact he is humiliated by the bronx cheers from the crowd (no doubt you were one of them if you had the heart to actually attend), and who take pleasure at being proven true over their predictions that he will fail. Not to mention the pr!cks who question his loyalty - he signed a 3 year deal in 2013 when he could just as easily have fielded offers when he had far more currency on the market and our club was an absolute basket case.

Watts had no say in where he would be picked in the draft, Watts does not pick himself to play in the 1's each week. He was thrown to the wolves thanks to the club wanting to use him as a "marketing exercise" and ever since he has suffered at the hands of the press, hostile crowds and keyboard warriors. I'm genuinely surprised he has not given the game away completely... to me that says he has probably got more inner strength than his detractors, many of who would not have played footy at a truly competitive level.

To much drama, stop harping on about being # 1 draft pick, if it wasn't for that #1 tag he wouldn't actually be on any AFL list, its not MFC fault, he's just not good enough, no need to pity him its a tough sport most people can't make it.

These would seem to be two contradictory statements given the MFC picked Jack at #1...

Watts did field offers. While there were interested suitors no godfather deals or half big offers were given.

He was thrown to the wolves thanks to the club

Credit to Watts as I don't remember him ever using that excuse. It's a defunct issue. It was 7 years ago.

However he does need to take responsibility for his fluctuation in form. Watts loses confidence so easily and plays with a 'Don't stuff up' mentality.

He may be popular with teammates but how many of them trust Jack on field.

Every true MFC supporter wants Watts to succeed but he has been a liability out there.

JW and first round draft pick for Aish maybe Lepper can make him into something

Koombaya my lord, koombaya.

My god you better hope a zombie apocalypse never breaks out in our lifetime, you'd be taken worrying about the welfare of the zombie, and not have it in your conservative bleeding heart to strike the beast dead.

Also, don't tell supporters how to support, and stop making out like we literally threw young poor defensles Jack into an actual minefield. It's irrelevant 5 years after the fact

You might want to actually read what I posted. I said that it wasn't his choice to be #1 pick.

Seriously JC, you are a wanchor... I'm not telling anyone how to support, but having said that, if you take pleasure from booing/bronx cheering your own players, then I'm afraid that says more about you than it does about the players on the receiving end. Keyboard warriors? Weak as...

No, you're not telling them how to support, just deeming them cretins for the way they do it. Nice way to talk about the stakeholders.

Tell me, does the altitude up on Mt. koombaya affect the singing of koombaya by the campfire with the bleeding hearts choir, or is it unaffected?

I am a stakeholder and yes, the cretins are those who eat their own... its with your zombie apocalypse analogy nicely, don't you think?

As for the singing of koombaya... perhaps you could enlighten me with a few verses... seems to be something you are rather familiar with.

Time to close this thread.

C'mon.....

I started the thread... more than happy to close it if that is deemed appropriate... I actually prefer to keep it open though, as it gives a chance for the keyboard warriors to express themselves.

Actually zombies don't eat zombies so it doesn't fit in with that analogy at all.

Sorry, I'm not as invested in video games and Walking the Dead as you seem to be.

Hmm 5kicks and 2 handballs....

He didn't have much of a game did he....

But you know what? Its not the stats. Its the fact he prances around the ground and does none of the 1%ers that every player is expected to do. He doesn't put pressure on the opposition. He is probably the worst tackler I have ever seen and he even gets outmarked by Jamie Bennell.

As much as I like it when he has ball in hand he is a liability. Simple as that. We are playing one down.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons hit the road in Round 8, heading to Perth to face the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium. With momentum building, the Dees will be aiming for a third straight victory to keep their season revival on course. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
