As long as you haven't managed to vanish up one of your own orifices before Round 1, will remember to give you name check, I still read Demonland, but unless one of the topics really interests me, I don't post, I go past AAMI sometimes exercising, Australian Rugby League squad was training this morning, watched by Kelly O'Donnell and Daniel McPherson, joked they were scouting Cameron Smith for a code change.

Did you see Frawley, Saty? Did you ask him if he has made up his mind yet?

Do you have another gig or are you still a man of leisure ?,

I am fighting that myth called 'ageism', as I attempt to find myself some gainful employment, took a month off to begin with, but don't like paying myself for too long, at least I might get a couple of pre season sessions in

An early attempt a humour?, I stated all along during the season that I didn't think Frawley had decided, I still think that, personally late in the piece I thought he was off to Freo, until Hawthorn trumped them, he is past history now, move on

They rail against training a week early and accept uncontrolled substance experimentation.

What a complete and utter load of nonsense. The AFPLA have been scathing from the get go about the EFC drug program. In fact they were one of the only ones actually making it clear that the real issue was the failure of duty of care and the health implications of the drug program (as opposed to the legailty or otherwise of the drugs used).

Thank you for the advice, it is dealing with 12 year olds at interview, with me knowing I know at least twice as much as them, I'll get there

Completely off topic

Used to have 4 earrings, passé

Don't like cars

And spoil my looks

My lovely partner may find this disconcerting

Only drink light beer (and only Cascade or Boags)

Don't weekend and if I did it would be in the mountains

St Kilda, no sorry, Fitzroy or Carlton

The AFLPA plus the rest of the Footy world are still reeling from what occurred in the Trade period, the landscape is changing, they are trying to be relevant

Definitely ...trying ...very !!!

Relevant ? As much as a 3rd wheel on a date. Theyre very Johnny come late to most things , that or just a thorn in the side of everything else.

They ponce around like kids who've just found a c-note and are running amock in the lolly shop !! Its amateur hour in the main.

That may well be true but it is nonsense that they accept uncontrolled substance experimentation. To suggest otherwise is silly

I ran into Sylvia last week. Unsure if this point has already been shared previously however he stated he thought he was fit, compared to many on our list. He said when he started at the Dockers he couldn't believe how fit all the players were, he was way behind.

I hope being on the track early is a sign the players are aware of how far behind the top teams they are in regards to fitness.

Hopefully with a fitter team comes some more wins.

This spells "I'm too lazy to put the work in, so I'll blame it on my last club". [censored], Colin. You had years to put the work in and you didn't. That's why you can't crack a game.

Maybe not...I've been there too.

Nothing like being interviewed by some fresh out of nappies type that "think" they know it all coz they've got this piece of paper that says so. Then you have some of us older ones who know that much, we actually realise we know very litttle.

But this is for a whole different thread I suspect..... just thought Id say I know where TDI is coming from.

Bin...point me to where they got up in arms about it...like you know...back when it first got daylight. Or when the AFL advised Golden boy etc.

They're riding coat-tails !! A bit me too , me too...yeah ...what he said etc.

Sorry I take umbrage at the use of phrases like "the get go" when we have a perfectly apt word "beginning".

Yes the AFLPA made early noises about the EFC, however in the past 6 months they only seem to complain about the AFL and ASADA. So when I hear them complaining about players undertaking a healthy activity (training) I question the current silence about the wantonly grossly negligent behavior of the EFC towards its players. Perhaps some perspective is required.

A quote from the above statement:
My overwhelming reaction to this is simple.
This must never happen again.
This is simply too important to get lost amid the legal manoeuvres surrounding this issue.
This cannot be about taking sides or drawing battle lines. We cannot, as an industry, look the players in the eye unless we do everything in our power to ensure that no player is put in such a position.
I want to make it very clear, for the Players’ Association this has never been limited to the specific status of a substance such as AOD9604 under the WADA Code. This is much broader.
The health and welfare of players is something that cannot and must not be compromised in any way.
I am asking all of our industry to do whatever needs to be done to ensure this never happens in our sport again.

And before you say well that wasn't 'back when it first got daylight' there is this media release and quote from it (Friday 8 February 2013)

http://aflagents.com.au/news/post/afl_playerss_association_media_statement

The report released by the Australian Crime Commission (ACC) is deeply disturbing. It contains allegations that go to the heart of the integrity of sport in Australia and the health and wellbeing of athletes.
The use of performance enhancing drugs is cheating and carries serious health risks for players. It has no place in football.
That the ACC Report found the health and wellbeing of players can be so drastically compromised in the pursuit of performance is incredibly alarming and an absolute blight on professional sport in this country.
Whilst athletes need to accept personal responsibility, what is apparent is that culpability for unethical practice varies and extends to a range of individuals and organizations.
In many respects some of the findings point to an absolute failure in governance and oversight of coaches and officials which is alarming given the dangers to which the failures have exposed players in terms of both their careers and their health.

Just a bit of advice, calm the farm!

Advice to an internet persona? I think you will find that in most cases the attitudes expressed in forums like this are a far cry from attitudes applied in real life situations... and having met Saty out in the real world, I seriously doubt attitude would be an issue.

Cannot open the link.

On the AFLPA site I found a media release containing most of the points mentioned http://aflagents.com.au/news/post/afl_players_ceo_matt_finnis_-_media_statement

Dated 21st August 2013

That is fourteen months ago!

Where are they, would any other union wait years to demand reparation from an employer? Would they?
