Awesome, the Dangerfield thread will be 300 pages by this time next year.

Am I the only one that feels twice as suicidal about the Trengove foot debacle now?

God we really are a black cat walking under a ladder away from total implosion.

"There will be some good free agents this time next year and we will go hard at those" = "You idiots Adelaide, you should have done the deal for Dangerfield while you had the chance"

Or so I like to think, anyway :)

He's going to the Cats calling it now. They'll have plenty of cap room, 9 players over 30 and after stocking up on KPP'S this year will need a mid to boost their rotations in 2016.

The shopping list is being compiled. The cheque book is ready. Players wont sign early in the season for cheap deals if Melbourne had a million a season+ waiting. They will delay and consider their options. If their team struggles they will put contract talks on hold.

All it will take is maybe 7 or 8 wins (which will be a huge effort), some promising play from Hogan and Tyson and maybe one of our top draftees this year and we could garner a lot of interest from a free agent. Momentum is everything.

I doubt we will get Dangerfield. But it would be bloody stupid trading 2 and 3 for him this year before a change of fortunes next year puts him or a talent similar to him right in our ball park.

They paid ridiculous money and Griffen leaving provided the opportunity but all of a sudden the dogs became a destination.

Not to keep up the negativity (:)) but thats not as good a list as I imagined - I'd go after Dangerfield, Walker, Cotchin, Lewis and Steven the rest are a bit meh - either too old or won't leave.

Mahoney highlighting we'll have a go at FA next year, well we couldn't tempt any player to leave a year early and give the club better compensation, how on earth does he think we'll attract a top player when every other club can tempt them too?

Who says we didn't tempt the player?

Seriously have a look at other events around the world, then put it into perspective. The sun will always rise tomorrow and the next day, and the next...........

Dont know what this obsession with Petracca is. Kid struggles to run out a game, he couldnt even finish the 3k at the combine without hurting his angle running on flat ground.

Jake Lever is where its at, him and Brayshaw go hand in hand much better. Rated pick 1 prior to his injury I hope we pull the pin and take him. I wouldnt be surprised if we passed on Petracca for Lever.

Lever was never rated as a pick1. Was considered a likely top selection but never a pick 1. That was reserved for McCartin and Wright before Petracca wove his magic this year.

I really think that's sensible to wait for free agency next year. Let's face it we won't be contenders in 2015 and we will know more about Toumpas, Salem and Kent. There is plenty of upside with Hunt and Harmes and Viney hopefully will be fitter and injury free.

Cross, Jones, Vince and Tyson provide some seniority and leadership. Goodwin is a midfield specialist coach and will bring on the group nicely. Stretch and picks 2,3 and 21 are waiting in the wings.

Can't understand the negativity on this forum.

Obviously we've been burnt in the draft in recent times but by all accounts we have better management in place this time around. There's a lot of talk of getting a mature-bodied player in while Roos is still HC but the other side of the coin is that now's a good time to play the draft while we have Roos' expertise on our side. On top of that, we're short on elite young talent. Tyson is a bright light and Viney looks the goods but in terms of more tangible measures, in the last two years we've had only Viney receive a rising star nomination (and he only in round 21 in his 11th match), and had no players in the AFL's 22 under 23. Tyson was stiff to miss out on that list and to be fair, Dom received a rising star nomination in 2012 with GWS.

Point being, we desperately need elite youngsters. We need a lot of things but if we go to the draft with 2 and 3 and snare Petracca and Brayshaw, I'm excited about our future. They will take time but I'd rather that than more 27-30 year old mature players.

Wouldn't mind Luke Parker for pick 3 though.

Lever is 192cm, 1cm shorter then McCartin and loves to take the game on and make the move to the midfield.

Hope we take this kid over Petracca. Think Brayshaws a given with the other pick.

193cm actually. We won't get Petracca

I believe (or I hope) something's still brewing and his comments were basically saying to hurry the hell up if you want these picks or we're happy to go to the draft.

Within the realms of possibility. And we gotta ask ourselves one question...Do I open another bottle?

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
