Nathan Jones not named in AA 40

WITH TENDERNESS.

Id even have him in before Priddis

On the positive side this just adds more credence to our request to the AFL for special assistance, doesn't it?

Mark (no need to consult others) Evans has already told us that nothing short of the Black Death running through the club will get us a pick.

probably get 1 next year then

Still on the cards then.

Thanks for the good news.

I know he's not the most popular player for opposition fans, but Brent Harvey in the AA-40 at age 36 is pretty good going.

I'm afraid that's too far the other way. Priddis is a fantastic player.

Are you [censored] kidding me? Not even in the squad? second for total disposals and fourth for clearances, and that's in our team what a joke

Having just read through this thread I am surprised and it takes a lot to surprise me these days were the MFC is concerned.

Jones has had a reasonable year as the captain of the worst side in the competition.

We are a side that had four wins and finished second last. we only missed last becuase we had a couple of percentage points better the Saints.

I dont remember Jones getting a best on ground nomination in any of the games this year.

He had some good games but also had some ordinary games.

He stands out at the MFC because he surrounded by a large number of poor footballers that does not make A Class just makes him the best of a bad lot.

The simple fact is that he is not in the AA 40 because he is not in the top 40 players.

Edited by old dee

its fully understandable, no one other then MFC supporters watch our games, if they put him in they would be just guessing, thats not professional.

Said a while back, we overrate all our players due to our familiarity with the names.

Reality is, our list is THAT bad.

He is ranked 20th for supercoach points per game which is a far better representation than the AFL site's ranking system

Unfair but not unexpected with tossers like Bartlett, Evans and Darcy on the panel.

AFL is not the sport you should be following

The experts and the score board agrees with me budge.

I am comfortable with what my eyes tell me.

not sure how the scoreboard is relevant to this

not sure how the scoreboard is relevant to this

he is playing in a very poor side and as a result looks better than he really is.

Jonesy is great but needs to kick more goals

But I dont blame him for that since hes doling so much of everything else to try and lift his rabble team

Just saw the panel had Bartlett, Richo and Frawley on it.

What a shock that Ellis gets a nod ahead of Jones.

Oh please. What a load of garbage. I thought people stopped trotting that line out 2 years ago. Apparently not.

it works the other way IMO, it is harder to look good in a shyzen side because nobody with any skill is helping you out and you get all the opposition attention

its not his teammates he runs rings around its the opposition, under your selection criteria Ablett has been very lucky to have been considered over the years with so many duds around him.

He doesn't kick more goals because he does all the hard running to help out the backline, then runs hard again to set up another option.

Reality check needed Nathan Jones ( clearly our best, aint near the top echelon) which really is what a few of us have been saying ........ Fabulous player but playing in a Sheeeeeeit team means just a tick under "A" grade

Dunn, Jetta very good but not as good as those whom they would replace.

REALITY CHECK !

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
