Tommy Mac, the elusive footballer.

I really like the kid, i love how he is very solid for someone so young. I love how he (when not corked can run with Riewoldt) has elite endurance.

But his skills are scary and give me heart palpitations. The sooner the kid learns how to kick, the sooner i'll be stable with him. Just because he is a defender, it doesnt mean he should have rubbish skills and decision making

whilst Tom Mcdonald will have one or two Tom McDonald moments a game, i still feel that he is one of the most promising young defenders in the league.

I dont agree with the initial statement that his positioning is wrong, because most of the time he is in the right spot and of course the ball is going to be kicked generally to the advantage side of the opposition. Whilst i noticed that Dawes often had forced Frost to the wrong side when they were in marking contests and was left stranded by the kick to him.

secondly, i cant really remember him having a bag of goals kicked on him this year, with Westhoff probably being the most influential opponent he played on and for the most part of the day Mcdonald beat him.

his improvement in the last 2-3 years has been immense, still at times needs to make a decision a bit quicker, but i think it is now something that is told to him by the coaches that run and draw opponents and then get rid of the football, and it leads to him getting tackled and disposing of the ball. i think this is due to his poor field kicking and most teams seemed to lag off him and let him kick the footy last year.

Well your mate must be about the only Hawthorn supporter to think so!

He was a dead eye [censored] with his disposal and regularly went for the riskier targets.

He was a beautiful kick.

Mods - the censorship here has gone beyond silly - pathetic.

I presume the censored word is the abbreviated form of Richard.

Looking at the statistics for 2014. Tommy Mac leads in the 1%er by about double the nearest.

Everybody gets caught out when the ball is coming lace out ala Beams -Cloke (right side of body ,too ) and that was on Dunne.

I admit Tommy needs to work on kicking, but I think it is confidence in that everything is still happening too quickly (in his mind)

Worth more than a Pick 53, turned out like a pick 10, a bonus.

Tommy Mac ticks most of the boxes when it comes to young backmen. Sure his kicking needs work and he often gets caught trying to do too much, overall his pros far outweigh his cons.

My biggest concern with Tommy Mac is that his contract situation seems to be up in the air. I am not sure where his head is at in relation to extending his tenure with the demons. I hope he stays, he has some great footy ahead of him.

Yep, has very few goals kicked on him, plays close and hard, plays his role beautifully in a hard key position and he's 21.

Lets kick the s..t out of him.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
