Roosy's Demons

Still love seeing Roosy in the Melbourne colours.

The article speak volumes for Roos.

Was one of the best decisions the MFC has EVER made.

Great article. Now, let's just go out there today and blow the old foe off the park!!

The players are playing for their coach finally

Cam Pederson was a player I had on my cut list at the end of the season. We couldn't move into 2015 without him.

Roos is more than a coach, he is a mentor, a leader and knows more about this game than most that have played it.

Some interesting quotes from that piece:

It is an open secret that Mark Neeld and Neil Craig were too negative on a fragile playing group scared of punishment.

But Roos managed the perfect blend of teaching fundamentals yet encouraging freedom.

A player’s progress is monitored by weekly meetings with Roos and review sessions where the players openly assess their peers’ mistakes and achievements, not just the coaches.

“I liked Neeldy but we were too regimented. We all had to be in certain spots and we were good at being over-coached,’’ says Pedersen.

“We would run to our spot at a stoppage and someone would be free five metres away but we would just stand in our spot. And that bloke would get the ball. Now we play with a bit mor freedom. Last year we were always in damage control, we tried not to get beaten by too much. We never believed we could win."

Also, in the video, Jamar talks about how there's been 'no knife in the back' this year from Roos. Shows how he felt at the treatment he got last year.

Us mug punters noticed this so the time last year. The board was full of pays about players guarding grass...

Roos seems to understand intuitively about peoples emotions, & 'has learned from great people', how to speak to men with respect, & to gently command respect in return.

he a learner both ways imo, both intellectually, & emotionally a high EQ ?

he has I think one of the best intellects in Footy, & sees bullshyte as clear as Fluro Green vests. this is why IMO he isn't caught up in flash & sparkle football. but rather the true basics of man against man physical footy with fairness.

"Cameron Pederson the most improved player in the Afl, bar none"

Going from one of the worst coaches to one of the best, all in the space of a few months. These guys probably can't believe their luck.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
