If the indigenous design in the background actually represents something meaningful, such as the land around Yarra Park with the river at the bottom, I would respectfully disagree.

But if it's just made up to 'look' indigenous, I will agree.

It would be nice to see them wear a no gimmick, no clash jumper again one day. This year alone we will have the names on jumpers round, indigenous jumper, pink Breast cancer jumper (for a good cause at least), clash jumper every other week, heritage jumper later in the year... am I missing any?

It's good for marketing and making dollars. The NBA does this a lot, constantly different themes for the uniforms, works well for generating income and interest. Personally I dislike how much sponsor information there is on jumpers now, but not much we can do there.

Ahhhh so you're one of those who thinks if we happen to do something similar to a sport in the US then we're just trying to copy everything and make the game American... Great logic. Yes, because i think having a few different jumpers will make some extra cash for the club I must also want the goals changed to hoops.

Lace-ups weren't novelty jumpers. They were the original 19th century designs which hung around until the 1980s when they were banned because of the injuries they caused to opponents' fingers.

I might be wrong here LDC but I thought they disappeared long before that and were revived for 'heritage' round sometime in the mid-1980's.

Just out of interest, why were GCS allowed to wear a non clash jumper against us last week?

They should have been made to wear a predominantly white jumper as we must whenever there's an alleged clash in one of the team's colours.

I'm raising this purely because there should be consistency on the ruling and nothing else.

I may have the wrong decade - perhaps it was the 70s - but Kevin Bartlett and David Cloke (at Richmond) both used to wear them regularly.

Suspend a hoop near the top of the goals, anyone kicks it through, instant 100 points. Will make use of the thousands of attempts at kicking a ball through the basket ball ring from the other end of the court at footy training.

I have been going to VFL / AFL matches since 1960 and I can guarantee you they were gone as a regularly jumper before then.
