- Mitch likes photography and is still tweeting about shooting weddings etc

- People complain about lack of photos of trainings/games to the club website

- He'll need work

- We're providing him some payout and offering support

- He's well liked and respected around the club

Is this too hopefully and too soon or is this a good idea in how to embrace the supporting culture that MFC wants to stand for?

I would hope that the powers that be at least consider it. Even if it wasn't on an ongoing basis it would be nice to get him down to take a few special shots at a training in a few weeks/months time that could go on the club website as well as his personal website.

Thoughts?

I think for the time being, he'll probably want to be as far away from the club as possible.

See I don't understand that. He may want to be away from football when he was getting paid and try as his might couldn't perform due to illness and injury. But I'm really hoping that he sees the club now as a place where his friends play and where he can get support.

It's all dependant on what Mitch and those advising him suggest. But I'd be making the offer for sure. Instead of hey Mitch will give you an 200k pay out for the rest of the year that you'll feel horribly guilty about accepting we could say ok we will give you 150k and you can come take semi-professional photos of trainings etc here and there are make the difference plus it will help you set up your post footy career.

A few reasons why not (mostly speculation):

I think he will want to remove himself from a football environment for a while.

He is more an artistic photographer. I doubt the subject matter i.e. training sessions, would be of much interest to him, if any.

I am anticipating he will be moving back to WA, if not immediately then in the not too distant future.

That would be completely humiliating for him, sorry.

There isn't much you can do photographically at a training session. It's... training. And Melbourne's rainy and overcast most of the footy season.

He needs to be as far away from the club as he can to try and get some normality back into his life. Watching his healthy former teammates training the house down would only resurrect painful and lingering memories. He needs to put it behind him and move on, if he's to recover successfully from this.

I would like some high quality photo's from training sessions. I would love to see a beautiful canvas of Nicho kicking a ball out on the full, or Pedo eating, JT losing a running race to an infant, Spencer tripping over himself and Howe asleep in a full ground drill because the training cones are putting too much pressure on us to get the ball forward.

Dont care for the photo's eventhough they are quite good...But maybe they could be using him eventually as a forward coach still. Get the same mongrel into Hogan as Mitch with Mitch & awayyyyyyy we go!!

Although I think Hogan is up to the challenge anyhow, hes a fairly aggressive type naturally & wont need too much coaching...just more general advice.

I admire your outside the box idea and I, too, hope that in time he can fulfil a roll within the MFC family - he's too loved to simply disappear.

However, at the moment I think he needs to be surrounded by his friends and family at home - arguably what he needed when he left Brisbane to start with.

why not make him the boot studder whilst we are at it? Or water boy?

Like the idea of him working in some capacity as an assistant forward line/ruck coach or something of similar ilk.
Certainly knows how to make the most out of limited opurtunites down forward, and how to position ya' self and make the most out of poor deliveries.

This is a good idea, in due course and if MC is interested. Photography, not so much. Think he'll eventually go back home to WA though.

I still have the faintest glimmer of hope, that he still might come back to us in a years time if he gets things right.
