Haha, I know the feeling. I want Shiel, Treloar, a KPF in Boyd or Patton and GCS's McKenzie, please. ;)

I desperately want a trade for Shiel, & a tall 197cm key utility (Jaksch, doesn't have to be this year).

And from this draft Petracca sounds great...... Along with the true small forward we need (Pickett), & also the midfielder-3rd-Tall Utility in (Lamb). somewhere around picks 8-15 ?

I reckon these players would give us the difference, & versatility & class, onto our list to go along way to repairing our lacking 'Class'.

i expect gws to pick petracca.

we'll be quite happy with brayshaw i expect.

wouldn't surprise me to see the Saints grab him. Or even try to trade their pick like we did last year. to get 2 for one?

Take him with our number 2 pick... or trade it for Treloar.

I don't get why people are talking about Treloar? Great player, but looks settled to me this year, where Shiel looks to be cruising in 3rd gear, looks to want out to me.

Lets go after the ones we can get first. Shiel will be every bit as good or better once he's settled... then package in Jaksch; & also a deal for Tomlinson, not necessarily in this order.

we need so many players to get to the top.

Oh and can I have Prestia too, please? :D

IMO we can be patient with the 'Pres',,, as we improve & they plateau, which they will once in the top 6, then maybe we can strike a Blow on the fruiterer.

I get worried about players who rely on power at under age level. Also Trengove tested well but I always felt he was a tall in a small body.

I want to see him play like a midfielder with a bit of class. I just didn't see it in that one game.

Actually Bob. I don't think Jack Trengove's testing serves your argument very well here at all because if Petracca and Brayshaw test as well for their endurance, they would be definite shoe ins in terms of their ability as footballers to run in games.

Also, one of the last players I recall whose style was criticised for relying on power at under age level was Ollie Wines. I believe there are some around Demonland who may have regrets that we overlooked him. Of course, it works both ways because others knocked Jackson McRae because he was a virtual unknown in junior circles and people had no idea about his stamina.

Although physical testing remains important, there are other tests you need to apply and that is whether a kid can actually play football. I think we finally now have recruiters who can discern that a lot better than the mug who had the job a few years ago.

Its time to be ruthless and get guys like Shiel, Cameron, Boyd without giving up our top 5 picks

Ruthless

Rooth-less adj.

1. Attaining something in an impossible scenario.

2. To get something worth something, with nothing.

3. To expect an unrealistic happenstance.

Honestly hh there is no official at GWS that would entertain that deal.

You want them to give up potential club champions for average players and average picks.

If you want something good you have to trade something good.

It is that simple good for average does not work

Its time to be ruthless and get guys like Shiel, Cameron, Boyd without giving up our top 5 picks

No, not with GWS.

they are our salavation; burn them at our own peril. we can have a mutual benefit society, based on trust & win-wins. trash that & they will suitor other clubs... the $cully deal has turned for us atmo.

Pick 4 to the suns for 11&15

Pick 3 & 11 for shiel and orourke

Pick 15 for Tom Mitchell

Pick 22 for tommlinson

New midfield and versatile hardworking tall

I think if you read the posts I've made here my concern is that we don't make the mistake of taking a footballer who is not a genuine midfielder. I'm not saying Petracca isn't and that's why I asked the questions I did.

In the past we made terrible mistakes by taking footballers who we thought would develop into mids - Blease, Tapscott, Strauss, Bennell and Jetta. And before that the classic example was Sylvia. From what I saw of Petracca, and I've acknowledged that it's only one game, he didn't look like a genuine mid, he looked like a tall flanker who's main attribute was his marking which I don't think is enough of an asset at AFL level.

IMO we need a genuine ball accumulator like Sloane, Shuey, Redden, Rockliff and Beams to name just a few we passed on, who can participate in possession chains and has the agility to find space in tight and make and execute good decisions.

Clearly the recruiting department will have the necessary information and do due diligence and I'm not questioning that. I'm just discussing the type of footballer we want and asking if Petracca has those attributes.

Brayshaw is your Sam Mitchell

Petracca is your Nat Fyfe

Doesn't look cleaver enough to be Sam Mitchell.

Yeah, Dustin Martin would be my comparison for Petracca.

A poor man's Martin, but stronger overhead.

Maybe a bit of early ROK in him.

Brayshaw is more like... I'm not sure.

Matthew Boyd with better disposal?

Comparisons with Sam Mitchell or Wines are well off.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
