Was out of form early in the year, but seemed to have a light bulb moment about a third of the way in to the season and never looked back. He's been a good player ever since he established his place (after looking very ordinary early), but this year took it up another notch; the brain fades disappeared, an element of toughness, aggression and swagger appeared, and to top it all off he showed us that he can speak his thoughts without mincing his words.

I love Jonesy, but I thought Garland deserved the Bluey this year.

Fell in love with him as a player when he did a role on Buddy a couple years ago, was great. Also on QB against Cloke this year was great.

The efforts he showed and passion was inspiring, especially when he cracked them at a team mate then dumped Cloke on the ground in frustration. Was fantastic.

It was the footy equivalent of kicking the cat wasn't it? Pissed at team mate, but can't flatten him, so flatten the biggest guy in the opposition instead. Love it.

A real success story. I thought his foot injury would end his career (like Mitch Clarke). Thankfully I was wrong.

Thought he was our best player this year. Imagine him in a side not copping so much ball in the defensive 50.

Was surprised to find out that he was 25 this year.

I think with the likes of Garland, Jones, Frawely, Clark and Dawes our premiership window has to be within 4-6 years.

Anyway good work Garland, keep it up. It must be worth looking into this mental preparation that he worked on this year.
