6"2', 85kg (no 28) strong mid who plays for the Eastern ranges. Very strong bodied and driven person who goes to my school. Has been named in the best 8 times this year including today in the grand final where he was outstanding kicking 3 goals and was named 2nd best on ground. Today he was great when the game was in the balance and really lifted the team during the 1st and 2nd qtrs. Hits the packs hard and is fearless. Has largely been used as a tagger this year, but he showed what he can do when let free against North Ballarat collecting 28 disposals this year. has played on a number of top prospects keeping them all to far less output than regular, in particular Kade Kolodjashnij who he held to only 11 disposals. He won't be a high draft pick, but may very well be worth a look with a late pick this year, or in the rookie draft.

edit: today he was largely playing on Zac Jones, and from what i could see kept him to little to no influence on the game at all.

Played against him many years when he was at Gembrook and was awesome. He does have a American accent though

So?

Pros - ball winning mid who kicks the odd goal, and already has a defensive side to his game unlike many draftee mids

Cons - American accent

No from me.

yeah, its a speech impediment. Doesn't have any american in him, never been to america, just somehow picked up this accent

That actually happens a lot. I worked with a guy who had a speech impediment when he was younger and he had an accent too. I wonder whether it is due to tapes that teach them to speak coming from the US, or if it's just easier to speak with an American accent

well he has said it was from watching too much tv when he was little, but who knows, it could be from any number of things like what you suggested.

Daniel will at the very least be playing VFL next year as he has offers from bendio Gold, Box Hill Hawks and The Casey Scorpions and others i think but can't remember them. He has told me that Melbourne has contacted him and talked about recruiting him, although they've only only brief discussions he and has family definitely think its a possibility.

Good size frame on the lad. if he has got what it takes then all the best for him. Would he be a rookie option or in the main draft you reckon?

Thanks for the insight.

I definitely think he's good enough to go in the main draft, He tore the stingrays a new one in the GF. He's driven to get the most out of himself, so if he was to miss the main draft and go in the rookie draft, i think that would just push him on more.

That kicking action looks Dan Nicholson-esque, plus he's got some weird speech thing, plus he's from the Eastern Ranges and I don't trust them.

Combination makes it a no for pick 9

Trust me when i say this, his kicking is very good. i've seen video footage of him and seen him at the GF and from what i've seen very rarely misses his targets.

No one said anything about pick 9, more of a late pick.

Good get YD

relevant comments and at least you've seen him play puts you way ahead of Barrett on the other thread.

Nothing wrong with promoting a friend as long as he can play.

I always find your thoughts interesting and never aggressively promoted so keep up the good work

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
