Jack Watts - More Discussion (for those who haven't had enough)

Featured Replies

Jack doesnt even understand the line... its coming on the next coach apparently

dont underestimate the Sammy. many take him for a bufoon...but think ...is he. He can spot a spud a mile away.

Newman did make a good point, albeit in a very sarcastic manner. What has Watts ever done to be making demands like this and basically holding the club to ransom?

The more I think about it the more I want the MFC to be full of tough, uncompromising bastards.

Some said the same about Tregove and Boak from Port last year. They were a basket case. But they had faith in the club stayed and look at them now. A different team. Boak was being chased by geelong but decided to stay as he wanted to help the club get back on top

It was Garry Lyon, on Footy Classified. Couldn't agree more when he said that. Thought it was fantastic.

Can anyone let me know what Jack has said on the show

Anything said by Jack?

I've bloody missed it

[censored] you Brock McLean you smug pr$ck.

Your club is not exactly basking in glory either.

Basically said he will weigh everything up and its not just about the coach we are getting. Its more his body langauge and the way he answered if he would stay at melbourne. He didnt give us hope.

these words have been brought to you by DOVE , Sorbent and anyone else portending the softer side of life :)

Hey McLean how many finals have you played with Carlton??

Oh yeah thats right none.

Jack Watts attitude sucks

simples !!

In Jack's first year, the whole MFC wanted to ease Jack and not overload him. Didn't want to break him, give him stress fractures etc and he has played like that since.

Jack didn't have a great tank in 2008 and back then I never really understood why we didn't [censored] him aerobically. Fair enough work your way up with your body but aerobically, he needed to make up ground.

The guy is talented and should've been a good player.

MFC has to take some responsibility but Jack has to look in the mirror

Sorry if this has been said...

Id f the kid off just to prove we dont waste time with hangers on... You're either onboard or gtfo

I don't care if he stays at MFC. In fact in some ways I am happy to see him go as he represents what was a false dawn and a soft attitude that I want to see wiped fom our club. What I do care about is us maximising what we get for him.

I haven't seen the footage, so I can't comment on what he said.

But based on what people have said here, it does sound like he's strongly considering leaving. That in and of itself is disappointing for various reasons. Nonetheless, if he wants to go, then we need to ensure he plays a blinding three weeks to up his value on the market.

If we end up trading him out for a high draft pick and/or a decent player, the 'pain' of losing him won't last too long.

I read on another forum Jack to the Gold Coast for David Swallow? Thoughts?

Nervous?

Watts can more than hold his own. I've seen him do some very good interviews.

22 year old. Talking about contract situations. Think about how you would have handled going on national TV talking about that when you were 22.

Give the kid an effing break.

Seriously Stuie, that's what I pictured you to look like. Lol.

stuie , really,c'mon ! the kid isnt a kid . Hes been coached ( ironic )

he has tickets. they arent punched....someone do it !!!

I think people need to have a broader perspective about this.

I didnt get a chance to see the footage. At the end of the day this is his job, and ultimately we are just key board warriors.

I understand why he would hold out for the next coach. Whilst I don't think it is a particularly great way to repay your team that has stood by you for 5 poor years I understand and I'd be making the same decision if I was him (mind you II [or my manager] wouldn't say it out loud)

If he doesn't want to stand by the club, if he doesn't want to perform in a position other than forward, if he doesn't want to play consistent games, if he doesn't want to be a part of a group and hold out till he approves of the coach then good riddance.

HOWEVER, that being said I wouldn't mind him on the team next year.

nupp

hes soft in the head

I understand him wanting to find out who is coach, what sort of attitude he has towards Watts with respect to what position he should play, how he will be used etc.

BUT

Until we have that coach appointed he should, as a professional, back the club to the hilt when representing the club publicly. If he then chose to leave at years end he has a very easy out "The club is moving forward in a great direction, however I felt like xxx's plans for me were not the best for me moving forward and I club xxx offered me a great opportunity to play forward/back/bench/under the covers, and I thought that would be best for my development. I wish the MFC the best of luck". Then 12 months later he can rag us for poor development no worries. But while we pay him, and he plays for us, he should be us to the hilt.

Does he go to footy clinics and tell kids that Melbournes ok, and going in a good direction but they should think about other teams as well?

I also have a real query here now, in that I think it is unlikely that he will see any coach who would get the best out of him. I imagine if a coach said "Jack, you could be anything but you need to work harder and go in harder", he may get Neeld like vibes and back off quickly, although that is what he needs.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
